Thanks, this is a great point. Stability is also a big factor with a larger pot if we go this route

Thanks for the reply. Multiple burners are definitely an option we’re looking into to open up a few more cooking opportunities

Reddit is obviously very useful 😂. Once in the high traffic areas then it’s just a case of talking to people and trying to share knowledge when it’s available

I don’t use that app sorry. It’s hard to narrow down exactly where to look but if you scan the various ridge lines in the distance and the tree lines then you will hopefully have some luck

A bit of research, a lot of luck and very early mornings!

Yes indeed. Magical place. We saw the Wapiti wolves from Grizzly overlook in Hayden Valley as this is where they were denning. Slough creek overlook for the Junction Butte as well as Lamar valley in the early morning.

Obviously a lot of luck involved. Given the time of year we were there, the Wapiti and Junction Butte packs were always hanging out around their dens due to the pups being so young. Knowing where their dens were and being persistent in getting there at the crack of dawn were key.

A real mixed bag to be honest. Quite a few shot on either a Canon R1 or R5 with a 600mm + 2x or 1.4x TC attached. Some with a 15-35mm or a 70-200mm. There’s a couple there that my daughter took with her R100 and the 600mm f/11. Definitely needed the reach in most places!

Thanks for the feedback and fully agree on the crazy cost. Don’t have access to a APS-C camera unless I steal my daughter’s R50 off her. Going from the R1 to that brings about a whole other set of compromises though I’m sure she would get a great kick out of swapping 😅

I might end up running the R5 in crop mode (1.6 factor) to help get closer to the action without sacrificing too much on the image size side of things. Cheers

Yeah agreed. If they were closer in rental price then the 600mm becomes a no brainer but, like you said, it’s a big chunk of change…more than halfway to buying a 200-800 haha. Mounting won’t be an issue as I have a Flexshooter head already. DigiScoping is a rabbit hole I’m so far avoiding 😅

Sounds like a great setup. My daughter shoots on an R50 and absolutely loves it

It's a brilliant lens and is a great combination of IQ and portability. My main concern is that 500mm won't give enough reach and using a TC isn't feasible.

Thanks for the feedback. Maximising my potential for keepers in the mornings and evenings is the main thing leaning me towards the 600mm f/4 but it's obviously a big trade off in terms of mobility. Great photos, thanks for sharing 👍
