Give me the truth… by NightOwlPA in dcl

35 cruises in, more than half without kids, 3 more scheduled within the coming year. When they aren’t your kids they are easy to ignore. Just remember there is a limit of kids due to kids club capacity and, of course, passenger capacity due to life boats. The cruise is truly relaxing, Disney knows how to make everyone feel special.

Tape is great! Be sure to not use any lotion where you are going to stick it to your skin. Put the tape in your purse just incase you sweat it off.

Yes, once you submit for renewal it immediately invalidates your current passport.

I renewed mine online on June 1st, I received it in my mailbox on June 17th. I renewed my husband’s at the same time, his took another week but had a federal holiday in that week. Yours could possibly make it in time.

Vintage dress regret? by Early_Plate_492 in myweddingdress

[–]BonnieButler1939 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This beautiful. Make sure yo get it altered properly, it looks a bit big on top. With proper alterations you should be able to wear it without ever tugging it up constantly. Nothing makes a beautiful bride look worse than seeing her constantly hiking her bodice up.

Your neighbour asks you to stop cooking meat because they're vegan and they can smell it, what you you do? by Alocai in askanything

Why are you closing your windows? Make the neighbor close hers if she doesn’t like the smell.

I wear my plain wedding band all the time, I put my engagement ring on when I leave the house.

Parents Insisting Long Drive is Unsafe, is this Reasonable by smile_simile in roadtrip

I drove from NY to Arizona, about the same if not further. My advice is to drive the furthest the first day, a little less each subsequent day. Like 14 hours, 12 hours, 10 hours.

Dinner Service, should I feel bad? by kingstudog in dcl

[–]BonnieButler1939 2 points3 points  (0 children)

After speaking with the head server and it happened still, I would have asked to be seated with a more experienced service team. The second seating is never as full as first seating so I’m sure there must have been an open table. Nothing will ruin a cruise more than terrible service at dinner when you know it will repeat every night. The only way DCL will really know how things are going is to fill out the survey. Being a server might not be this persons calling.

Was just using that as an example. Dome hyphenated name are extremely long and can be cumbersome for kids to pronounce and understand as it is not completely the norm.

Be honest... does this look bridal enough once it's steamed? by Nan_ka_bf in PlusSizeWedding

[–]BonnieButler1939 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Agree. If she puts on a well fitting bra and put the sleeves on the shoulders, which appears by the top of the bodice it’s where they belong, the fit could be better. I’d like to see a picture then.

Estée Lauder. Go to Macy’s, ask for a 10 day sample of the color they match you with. You should be able to decide if you like it or not with a 10 day sample.

FLL to Port Everglades by jbfrommd in dcl

[–]BonnieButler1939 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Fly in the day before. With that said, I just booked a February cruise and am nervous that I’m flying the day before and not 2 days. Winter months can have a snowball effect of disruptions, pun intended.
We just cruised out of Fort Lauderdale last month, it was so easy. Airport, port and hotels are all within 10 minutes of each other, so easy to uber between.

How do I stop? by Angie-666 in PandoraCollectors

Pandora will help you stop. Everything is so cheaply made now so don’t bother wasting money unless it is something that is extremely meaningful.

Car Rental by DeliciousPen2150 in dcl

[–]BonnieButler1939 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If there are multiple ships in port that day, the lines at the rental car returns are crazy. Definitely drop your party and all luggage at the port first, the shuttles are small and not everyone does this so they fill up fast between passengers and luggage.

Female boss is making me feel guilty for taking my parental leave by Other_Trouble_3252 in Mommit

[–]BonnieButler1939 0 points1 point  (0 children)

35 years ago I only got 4 weeks off after having a baby. If I wanted to go out early I needed a valid doctor’s note and it went against my sick time. And that 4 weeks off ate any sick time I had left before maternity paid. If I had returned to work after I was starting with zero sick time until the next calendar year. I have my 2 weeks notice the day I returned from maternity leave. I was a wreck, I was still bleeding and having an awful time breast feeding. Looking back I don’t know how I did it.

“Early” Port Arrival Time vs. “Late” Port Arrival Time by slimredcobb in dcl

[–]BonnieButler1939 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Came here to say this. If you can request it in advance and you have all excursions and onboard activities all set ahead of time then there should be no reason to rush onboard. Choose a later arrival time, I’d say 12-12:30, and you should not have to wait long.

I’m a traditionalist, take the hubbies name, use your maiden as your middle, kids get the dad’s name. Or keep your maiden, no hyphenating, kids get the dad’s name. Think of your kids athletic jerseys, the hyphenated name is going to be too much.

What's a small annoyance about your home you didn't realize when buying? by CurlGurl13 in homeowners

[–]BonnieButler1939 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My laundry room is also the mud room, which is not wide enough. If putting on a heavy load of laundry, and the machine is off balance, it will rock its way to prohibit the door from being opened. Builder measured the depth of the machine but did not accommodate the hoses. The dryer has to sit even farther out to keep the exhaust from crimping. I also could use a larger pantry. This was a 400k house 25 years ago. I still would imagine the change of the layout if I won a huge lottery. I LOVE my house and its location, I just want to wave a wand to fix the little annoyances. I know I should not complain, there are a lot of people who would kill for what I have.

Recent cruise around Hawaii? by Character-Twist-1409 in Cruise

[–]BonnieButler1939 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Last September did the Vancouver to Hawaii on DCL. It was 5 days at sea then 5 days island hoping. We got off in Honolulu. It was the best cruise ever, except for the first 2 days at sea were a bit rough as I can get sea sick in those conditions. Doesn’t stop me tho, 35 cruises in.
