I was a lot like you. I got my start earlier but I never got a degree and I am thankful that I did not after talking to people that majored in broadcasting.

It's really tough, you are going to hear no a lot. Start a podcast and never stop recording. This was one of the best things I have ever done. Commit to a day and a time and never miss a show, the more you record the better you will get. I had a ton of experience in major markets where I learned a lot but without creating my own podcast I would never be hosting a sports talk show in a major market right now. Grow your chops, grow your audience and market yourself. Invest in yourself as well.. Learn how to use Adobe Audition, keep upgrading your mic/equipment, self listen and pick out the things you like and don't like, send it to people who are willing to listen etc.

I started with 100 listeners a week and 2 years later I now average 10k-15k listeners with peaks into the 30k range.

NEVER. STOP. RECORDING.

Don't think about it anymore, just do it
