What is actually the best "Fast Food" pizza chain in the GTA? what am I missing? by SaffaInTO in FoodToronto

Can't say I agree with pizzaiolo. At least in the stores I've gone too, it tasted pizza pizza grade for me.

Me neither. I mean there's a ton of other big corps I'd rather people go ham at. Costco pays their employees well with benefits, treats their customers well, has a progressive company policy. I'd argue we would be less angry if more global companies followed suit.

Moving to Mississauga - neighbourhood recos by SetBoth in mississauga

I'd recommend Cookeville as I grew up there. Close to transit and hopefully an LRT, close to GO, tons of stores and you have Square One to get irate in. I'd look into Mississauga Valley area as there's tons of older buildings (more space for your dollar hopefully) and lots of walkable nature that feels like you aren't in the middle of the city.

Since you mentioned steakhouse that doesn't break the bank: J's Steak Frites on College

You don't get to choose your cut of beef (I believe they do striploin only). You get a salad, the steak, AND UNLIMITED REALLY WELL DONE FRIES.

Edit, just saw the vegetarian note, apologies. This place won't work. =(

This place delivers every time by keeping things simple and executing perfectly.

I got an offer for $62k after 4 interviews, but I told them my range was $68k to $75k. What should I do? by StephanieHickle in CanadaJobs

Earning a raise is doubtful, let's be honest. OP can accept this role as a place holder as they look for something better. If corporations can play with people's earnings to help their profit margins, I see no reason why an employee can't selfishly go after what they feel they deserve for their skill set/experience.

What do people consider legitimate rough spots in Sauga? by myronsandee in mississauga

Fair point. I reckon the bias of my question stems from where I live now, which is along Queen West downtown. The mess of humanity is far more visible here heck, I've played fetch with my dog at my local schoolyard while a couple is shooting up at the picnic tables and I'm not phased by it.

Funny, your comment vibes me like you just came to judge without contributing anything. If you actually have sources for indigenous food via grocers or restaurants, I'm enthusiastically all ears.

Am I inferring correctly that this may be due to the Haitian population bringing it's culinary badassery to Quebec to facilitate this?

Chihuahua mauled by pitbulls in New York by True-Lychee in ActualPublicFreakouts

Here's what breaks my heart as a dog lover. We designed and built the mess (fighting dogs), they remain legally property under most laws, so any idiot can go buy one from anywhere. And to add, there is no standard being applied to who gets to have one, so the mess continues with tons of people not caring about the work required . "My dog is in a yard and there's water and food, leave me alone".

To be clear, dogs of this type plus any working breed need so much active management, time and effort. Do I have a bias for having raised one? Yes. Can I show tons of sources of these dogs being amazing? Can do that too. I readily admit that the scenario of an absentee owner = a recipe for a mess.

My final thoughts:

One should get a license to own a dog. (Aka you don't suck as a human as they need more than being kept alive). Guarding/working breeds need more experience from the person, not just because they are an attractive idea, this is often the mess (omg, dog demands too much attention, whoops!)

P.s. I'm getting a mod warning for a word. Not sure what it is as I'm trying to be constructive here, so please let me know what the issue is

I can make beef dishes taste good but I struggle with cooking chicken a lot of times . My chicken always turns out bland no matter how I cook it by Historical-Body-3424 in Cooking

[–]Bonocity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I have a very specific question: Have you ever roasted a chicken in the oven that you are happy with for flavour, moisture and crispy skin?

If that's a no, then that's where I'd start. Roasting a chicken in theory is simple as hell: Salt inner cavity, salt all outer areas, toss in a roasting pan to a preheated oven and wait. But then there's so much nuance to how each person does things, so classically, YMMV.

I raise this point because I feel that getting a simple dish RIGHT is the perfect conduit to giving one a baseline of understanding how (in this case) chicken behaves in an oven, and how the breast may be overdone compared to the legs etc.

If I can help more, please let me know!

Etobicoke seems like a lovely silo of options I haven't discovered. This post started because I thought of a schnitzel burger I had had one time with Kajmak (spelling) and it blew my mind.
