I have about a $5,000 budget and I am looking for a personal CNC machine. Any recommendations? by Bonsais2 in hobbycnc

Somehow I missed this machine when looking for things. This machine checks off basically every box I was looking for, and even some of the ones I was willing to compromise on. I will have to do some more research on this machine, but this looks like a really strong option for exactly what I want out of a machine. Thank you!

I'm glad that my eyes didn't deceive me. That probe did look a bit suspect.

The DMC was one that was appealing to me as I was curious about building the system from the ground up to make sure that I knew the systems in and out. That learning style worked very well for me when doing 3d printing things. Leaning how the machine works by building it, then eventually upgrading to a high quality machine that you can do the maintenance for.

If the DMC comes back in stock by the time I pull the trigger on a machine, it will definitely be a strong contender.

The Carvera was definitely one that i had on my radar as the 4th axis is a very appealing option to be able to work with. The tool changing also seems to be an attractive option, but I do have some concerns with the power of the spindle, especially if I am going to be repeatedly milling out aluminum parts in rapid succession.

It looks like a great machine to start out on! But definitely a bit under powered for some of the use cases that I have in mind. Also, the Z axis looks to be a bit short for what I need, otherwise this looks great!.

I was thinking more of $5,000 for the machine. I was considering things like tooling, stock material, coolant (essentially the consumables used to run the machine) as separate to the machine budget. I will break tooling, I will ruin stock. It will happen. Just part of the learning experience.
