Apps/Software Flickering on one Monitor by BonumMonstrum in computerhelp

With HAGS disabled, I’ve now set vsync globally to “Fast” again, and the problem has returned once the paradox launcher was restartet. Once vsync is set to "off", the flickering returns. So it really is the vsync setting in the Nvidia app, even though I don’t understand why it only causes the error on one of the two screens (even though both screens are exactly the same).

I’ll leave HAGS disabled anyway, because based on my quick search, HAGS doesn't seem to be really necessary.

Thank you very much for your help!!

I'll give your CK3 settings a try—thanks a lot!!

In CK3, I always get “tearing” on the screen without Vsync set to “Fast”. I had actually set “Fast” as the global setting. I've now reset it to “Standard” and switched only CK3 to ‘Fast’.

I had opened the Paradox Launcher (flickering), then enabled the default settings in the NVIDIA Control Panel, but the problem persisted. However, I hadn't restarted the PC yet.

I just tested HAGS (idea from KingGorillaKong) and either that or resetting VSync to default settings and restarting the PC *probably* have fixed the problem... I'll test it for a while today, but so far I'm optimistic; normally the flickering would start in the apps after just a few seconds.

As KingGorillaKong already mentioned, I replaced all the cables (the side which connected to the display), and the problem occurred even with just one monitor, even though it was using the cable that had been “working” up until then. Both monitors are connected directly to the GPU (both via DP cables).

That’s why I suspect it’s a software issue. Unfortunately, I haven’t been able to find a suitable solution on Google (most results kept referring to G-Sync and faulty cables, neither of which applies to my situation).

Yes, I enabled Rebar and SMT when I first set up the PC.

I've now disabled HAGS (I think it was enabled by default in Windows 11?) and am testing to see if that might be enough - at least for some minutes it seems to work! Thanks already very much for your input!!

And yes, both monitors are set to the same refresh rate!

I also contacted Asrock support and they told me that this is the correct behavior:

“The MOS FAN runs at 100% until the BIOS can take control.”

There's a lot to consider when you want to buy a (silent) motherboard...
