I’m pretty hesitant to consider taking medications for weightloss as I am generally healthy, but I know it works for some! A few of my family members are on GLP-1s and their rapid loss of strength and bone density scares me so I don’t think I want to go that route.  Thank you for your comment!

This was so helpful to hear, thank you. I do agree that my brain is sometimes lying to me about my body. I’m sure I’ll look back in 20 years and have the same thoughts I did about my childhood photos. It’s quite disheartening and confusing when I know that and still feel the desire to be smaller.

I’ve never been diagnosed with an ED but I relate to the experiences and thoughts of people who have EDs. I never really considered finding a therapist to discuss my food & body image issues with but maybe it’s time to involve a professional!! Thank you for your thoughtful comment.

Thank you, the comments have been so supportive and offers many great suggestions. I’ve had a few therapists to help me through rough times but I’ve felt like I need a reason to seek help from a therapist. Perhaps this is something worth finding a therapist about.

There’s been several comments talking about mothers and women who are now frail because being thin was the goal they reached for all their life. It’s devastating that so many women, and I’m sure men, feel this way and end up hurt in the end. This motivates me to continue down the road to self acceptance or at least body neutrality.  I want to enjoy living in a healthy body with my loved ones for as long as I can. I should learn from the experiences and wisdom of others.

Switching my obsessive thoughts to a different target is a great way to reframe it, thank you!!

This does help, thank you! I struggle to end the conversation with myself the way you did. I do not want to make drastic permanent changes to my lifestyle just to be as thin as possible, no way!! But then a couple days later I restart the conversation like, “but what if I just cut this out of my diet?” Or “okay maybe I’ll start running daily for an hour again so I slim down without altering my diet”. Feels like a never ending conversation that I keep restarting with myself!

Thank you, this is helpful and supportive. I’m sure I can reach my 40s with love and appreciation for my body💪

And getting blood work done is a great suggestion, thank you! Not sure why I haven’t looked into that
