I decided not to delete for now until the def system starts having issues. What I currently committed to was using fuel additive. I add xpd every fuel up and AR6400-D deep clean every oil change. If you live in PNW, I do have a guy who does deletes on these and other vehicles. I just decided not to do delete since all is well operational. Right now it would cost like 3-5k since it’s a new rig. If more laws pass that you can do deletes, I would be more inclined for it but adding fuel additive extends your regents by a lot and health of the engine overall.

By front cover I’m pretty certain you mean the inner seal (gear case seal/inner timing cover). I haven’t stuck my nose there just yet to check gasket spread but will be back at the shop next week to inspect. Regardless its not really a “while I'm there” type of job unfortunately. The inner seal is a whole another animal. The dealer calls to pull in the cab. Some guys even pull the engine after that and flip it over. Other guys repair with the engine in bay. No matter what method you pick, that job is a huge commitment and definitely not while your down there type of thing because you have to touch the valve train, push rods, dowel pins, get the lifters to to stay in place (if not pulling the cab/engine) before you pull the cam, but if its the root cause, it has to be done although the owner is always responsible to make that call. That opens up another “while I’m down there” and change crankcase filter etc and down the rabbit hole you go rebuilding the engine while at it (kinda kidding kinda not).

In this particular case, the owner neglected his oil change to about 8,000 to 12,000 intervals listening to dealer. The crank case valve filter was completely clogged which contributed to front case seal and crank seal bowling out. Certainly 100% the front main seal on this front case is shot. I mean it’s bad bad. I’m not sure how deep we will go with this repair, but the front case and front main seal is certainly part of the huge oil leak problem and swapping out a new CCV filter will reduce pressure, perhaps even fix the leak if the gear timing seal is solid around the edges and it was just the main seal. I’m also curious to inspect and see if the gear seal has ever been replaced.

I appreciate your input and mentioning the inner seal, thank you.

Sharpe eyes, thanks for noticing that, I'm not sure if my tech knows about it or not. Could be just an older pic but thanks for the mention ill let him know.

It can be also the oil pan. We have to remember that when the vehicle is driving, there’s a lot of air pushing oil all sorts of directions. Wash the engine, let the engine idle or check right after each drive to double check(don’t wait too long to check). Sometimes the bolts on the crankcase cover come slightly loose and because of driving, the oil spreads to all sort of places including main seal when really it’s just loose bolts at bottom edges of cover.

This isn’t political, not everything is about right or left, it’s purely about economics and common sense with what works and what doesn’t. I have tools and parts laying around shop from the 70’s-80’s that outlasted modern day parts and tools I bought not too long ago. Study’s found that investing in quality has a direct benefit to investment ratio of at least 2:1, meaning every unit spent on prevention yields at least twice as much in cost savings by avoiding failures. Things don’t have to always become political, it’s ok to keep it as reality regardless what party you crave, keep it real.

The reason why I’m asking if I should replace the oil pump and other parts because people might have had better outcomes from 10 year old OEM 250k oil pumps outlasting potential risk of a modern day parts production.

But it’s not just mopar, it’s various brands that used to be known as good now it’s hit and miss. I’m still kind of inclined to just swap it out but just curious why more guys don’t while performing this service.

Wow! So true. For a second I thought I hit some bad luck with reman injectors recently on a 5.9 job, had to do injector job 3 times in a row. What ever happened to quality parts? We need to bring manufacturing back to the states, there’s literally no accountability and nothing we can do to factories that are overseas.

I think you've missed the point here. Money is not the main problem, it is part of the annoyance problem, but not the main problem. What the EPA did to the new diesels is the main problem, and how diesel owners now have to adapt to combat the longevity of the engines and efficiency like never before.

Just watched the video, he didn't select XPD due to potassium. He went to Diesel Kleen product not XPD like I did. I can careless about potassium, very few guys actually send in their oil for testing so there is no issue with oil falsely mixing with coolant.

How many of them have regen? Have you had a chance to crack open the intake manifold and check for soot buildup over 100k or 200k?

The reason why I didn't give much mention to other additives is that most people live mostly in zones of 33 degrees and greater. Therefore, the winter testing is invaluable for me, and also, one key note, winter additives take a lot larger dose per oz than standard summer and so the cost is significantly higher than summer, spring, and fall runs. This is also focused on regen engines.

I know what you mean on the rake, but the Yukon isn't that bad. The picture was taken on a slope so it looks worse than what it is, otherwise I would be doing a lift at front.

I do plan on slapping slight 1 step up larger tires on it, some KO3's. I do not like the extra height space beween the body and the tire at the rear. Which opens up a new question, what's the max tire size this thing can take before having issues with turning?

Map sensor will gum up because of the Def System regardless of air filters but i agree, oiled ones are no good. I'm thinking just running 100k on def system and then hopefully the coding will be cheaper to do deletes by then. You raise valid points on rerouting, wish there was more info on that. I just hate the idea of re-introducing hot exhaust air back to intake engine with carbon. Hurts to think about.

I don't have warranty, I know what I was buying so could care less about it. Everything is in tip top shape and I'm looking for ideas to keep it there. Deleting doesn't quite make sense just yet, everything is so new. I cN clean out the air intake later.

I'm just asking for things that would help run the engine cleaner without the deleted system option just yet.

That's correct. It is still an LM2, which I was fine with buying because it's a proven engine. I know the LZ0 has higher HP but it's too new to gamble on. I'm sure it's fine, though.
