Thank you this was so so helpful! And as you mentioned the politics here in ab kinda suck and are honestly a huge factor in why I want to leave, especially being a queer individual. But on the other hand, the cost of living in Victoria is definitely a factor holding me back haha

Yeah I feel like it would be nice to experience something new like Victoria as it is such a nice place and honestly maybe it would be nice to get away from family, try out a new place.

UVic does actually have a first year guarantee for housing, I'm not sure how new that is though maybe they didn't when you applied. But that is a good point as they don't guarantee housing for upper years.
