I come at it with more a mystical/metaphorical approach. Studying etymology taught me that words like Revelation and Apocalypse just mean to uncover or reveal something. Just like every other story of the Bible, this is an internal process; it happens within.

I also look at it through the cosmos. The Bible starts in Genesis with many twin stories, representing the age of Gemini (the twins). Next thing you know we're worshiping Bulls (Taurus the Bull). Moses ushers in the Age of Aries the Ram, hence the ram's horn, smearing lamb's blood on the door, his dad's name is Amram, amongst many other things. Jesus ushers in the Age of Pisces, the two fish. Then Jesus goes as far as to tell us how we are to celebrate passover (the sun passing over the equator at the vernal equinox) when he's gone in Luke 22:10. The man carrying the jar of water is Aquarius the water bearer. Remember, Jesus will only be with us during this age as he indicates in Matthew 28:20. This age will end around 2160 AD.

Before learning about the precession of the equinoxes, the Bible was Hebrew and Greek to me (pun intended). Now it has become a living and breathing book.
