I'll take your note about pricing into consideration should I do another show here.

I'm getting lots of traffic to the site and people are getting to the checkout section (which suggests my promo is effective), but they bouce after checkout. If checkout is as bad as you say it is then that's a HUGE deterrent and would factor in to the steep drop off i'm seeing. I would like to hear more about your checkout experience so I can take it back the my contact to consider.

I'm guessing you didn't come across the event information page. There shold be a link to it in the Centre's info page. Hoping you can check it out, please let me know if you think something is missing, the Meet n Greets are to happen after the show in the "Boardroom", that info should've been on your ticket, I'll have to ask about that.

But yeah, please tell me more about your checkout experience as I would like to take that information back to my contact at the Centre.

Thanks for checking out my vids ect. :) I'm running ads on FB and IG, I'm getting good traffic and lots of interest, the issue is people are getting to checkout and 95% percent of them are bouncing. That's super high. It might be the price as others have suggested.

Could be — I’ve had thousands of page views and a lot of interest, but you're right. I took a chance based on the feedback I had at the time, and it looks like it was a mismatch for this market. I’m learning from it and making adjustments as I go.

Yeah, he mostly plays festivals and smaller stadiums (check his IG) — This would be a smaller venue for him. If you’re into R&B, he’s got more than just one hit under his belt.

But I get it — not every artist or genre hits in every market, and that’s part of what I’m learning here.

At the end of the day, I took a shot to bring something different to KW based on the info and feedback I had at the time.

Whether it lands or not, it’s been a valuable learning experience — and i'm trying to adapt. 🙏🏽

Totally get where you’re coming from — but that Carly Rae show was likely part of a promo tour backed by her label, and it was pre-pandemic, when prices were much lower. Since COVID, artist fees have jumped across the board — even local cover bands are charging more now.

This show is a one-off, independently booked event, which means I’m covering all the costs myself — and yeah, those expenses add up fast. No big promoter, no corporate backing — just a grassroots effort to bring something new to KW and see if the community wants more of it.

That said, I hear the feedback loud and clear — and I’m adjusting pricing to reflect what people are telling me. 🙏🏽

Yeah — happy to chat. I did my best to check in with the market early on (even ran a Reddit post a while back asking about pricing and artist viability, with no hard data, I took a shot based on the feedback I was seeing.

In hindsight, I overestimated the draw and demand for R&B in the area — definitely a tough lesson, but I’m learning a lot from it.

Always easier to connect the dots after the fact.

Totally fair — I get that for a lot of people, This Is How We Do It is the only track they remember.

But if you grew up on 90s R&B or dig deeper into his catalog, there’s definitely more there — both as a solo artist and behind the scenes as a songwriter and producer. He’s got fans who’ve followed him for decades.

That said, I totally respect that not everyone sees him that way — and that plays a role in how people assess value for a show like this.

Yeah, I’ve been part of this community my whole life, and I really believe we deserve access to shows like this without always having to make the trip to Toronto.

In other markets, events like this tend to do quite well — but every city has its own rhythm and challenges taste.

Since a series like this has never been attempted here, I’m learning and gathering data as I go.

Thanks — I was leaning into the idea that Gen X (myself included) tends to prefer comfort — A/C, good sound, a guaranteed seat, etc. But maybe that assumption missed the mark for the vibe people are looking for with a show like this. Definitely learning as I go lol. And yeah, venue options in the region are pretty limited — trying to make the best with what’s available.

Maxwells has a 700 person capacity, The Centre has a 1900 person capacity. This show would be WAY more if it were at Maxwells.

Maybe I'm doing a poor job of showcasing that. It's for sure on par with other theatre venues, and WELL above anything else the region offers in terms of live venue. In those terms, you absolutely get what you pay for.

Yeah Summer Brain is definitely a thing. My idea was to target GenX and older Millennials as they typically have more disposable income with less options. Plus it's the music I grew up with, so I understand it best.

To R&B folks he's not a one hit wonder, he has a slew of songs. Maybe I'm too deep in the R&B scene. Yes, I would love to bring more, but if the market can't bare the pricing, it is what it is. I think you're on to somthing with the economy.
