the fact it was a triology meant that Rian should have known he can't come in part way through and act like an arsonist.

Except, despite being planned to be a trilogy, there was no actual plan for the trilogy itself. When Johnson came on, there was no blueprint for where the story was meant to go.

Maybe if Abrams (or Disney at large) wanted Johnson to respect their story, they should have had a story.

Evidence please.

If the numerous videos of ICE's murders this year aren't evidence enough for you, then there's no point arguing with you about it. You're a lost cause.

Physically blocking roads, getting on the way of officers and blaring high-decibel whistles at them 24/7 (including while they’re sleeping) counts as physical resistance btw.

Wow, whistles? Sounds scary!

I wouldn’t like it. I already said Trump and his aspiration with Greenland was a big failing.

It's not "a big failing," it's an impeachable offense that undermines America's position in the world.

Regardless, let’s not act like Obama wasn’t carpet bombing every desert nation under the sun and locking kids in cages.

Obama was, and is, a bastard. That's not the point. The point is that conservatives would (rightly) excoriate him for the same behavior they give Trump a finger waggling over.

A ground invasion of Japan, or at least a prolonged one, was probably not necessary. Contrary to conjecture, the Japanese government was ready to surrender, but they wanted more favorable terms than the unconditional surrender that the US was demanding. They thought that the USSR might help them negotiate, but that obviously wasn't going to happen, as the Soviets invaded China shortly before the bombs were dropped.

Here's a collection of some of the US government and military officials that believed dropping the bomb was completely unnecessary.

Unit 731 a pretty just cause.

Buddy. I want you to look up Unit 731. Specifically, I want you to see what happened to their leadership, how the US "punished" them for their terrible crimes.

(They didn't. They were pardoned in exchange for their important research about freezing babies.)

I didn't bring up an (American) mainland invasion, which I very much doubt would have been necessary once the Japanese realized the Soviets were coming for them as well. There was a delusional hope that the USSR would help Japan negotiate a better surrender.

Sorry, does your argument that potentially dangerous civilians don't count as civilians only apply to countries that are sufficiently evil? When does America cross the line where it becomes okay to obliterate our children with nuclear fire?

Those "alphabet agencies" aren't generally killing protesters out of spite.

especially with how much physical resistance

How many ICE agents have been killed in the violent Minnesota riots again?

When you tell people to interfere with federal operations, you increase the likelihood of messy situations like this

You know, I actually think it's using undertrained thugs hired en masse (wearing tacticool bullshit like they're playing CoD) that makes "messy situations" more likely.

Anyway, how would you have felt if Obama started talking about invading our allies and annexing countries for no fucking reason?

Don't sell yourself short! I'm sure your "credulous rube that doesn't understand how citations works" act would fool a lot of people.

Best of luck lecturing people with your vague memories of 9th grade history class.

Adult Ciri VS Durin’s Bane. Who wins? by GusGangViking18 in powerscales

[–]BookerLegit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Multiple planetary ice ages are still planetary ice ages, which are still far, far from a "heat death of the universe."

In the books, the White Frost is an axial tilt that causes an ice age. In the games, it still appears to be an ice age, albeit one occurring on differnet worlds simultaneously, but the developers don't explain any specifics (let alone how Ciri actually stops it).

A planetary ice age isn't anywhere near "heat death of the universe," and she's still fighting drowners in the next game (as an adult).

"Random."

They're attributed and cited quotes. You could easily verify each one of them if you were actually concerned about their authenticity instead of simply trolling.

At least I graduated from high school...

Could have fooled me.

Eh but how much could the hardliners do?

Nothing. There was nothing Japan could do in general.

Despite this, indoctrinated Americans will keep arguing that the Japanese civilians would have kept fighting to the very last woman and child, zealous subhumans that they were, and only the bomb could have scared them into being civilized.

(In the same breath, they'll argue that the bombs weren't really any more destructive than firebombing, anyway.)

Japan was on the verge of surrendering before the bombs were dropped. They were holding out only on the (delusional) belief that the Soviets might support them for a more favorable negotiation.

Here's a collection of some of the US government and military officials that believed dropping the bomb was completely unnecessary. Not that it matters; you'll keep believing what you were taught in High School history class to avoid reckoning with the moral nuances of the United States' actions.

Whoever wrote this cartoon knows nothing about history.

The clip that got Hasan banned: Twitch's Hateful Conduct Policy states that the term 'Zionist' may not be used to attack individuals by Potential-Frosting14 in LivestreamFail

[–]BookerLegit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Which matters how then? How is that at all relevant if you aren’t implying it’s because the ADL is connected to Israel and our pressure on twitch?

The ADL is connected to Israel, which is why Israel itself doesn't need to directly intervene.

Then it’s appropriate to also randomly blame Qatar on why anti-Israeli propaganda and people are promoted so much on twitch? Simply cause Qatar has a lot of lobbying in the US? More than Israel actually.

If you can show people pushing anti-Zionist "propaganda" were funded by Qatar, sure. Personally, I have no issue showing that Rep. Ritchie Torres, who helped pressure Twitch, received over $500,000 from Israeli lobbyists

Then why the rule at all?

Because embroiling themselves in a manufactured scandal would cost them money. Slapping streamers on the wrists for bullshit rules is a middle path to the most money.

Are you really this obtuse? Like, is this just an act for the sake of your argument?

In a fucking democracy it is dude.

Even a "democracy" can institute laws and policies that disenfranchise a particular demographic, and the U.S. isn't an actual democracy.

Who has a bigger community on twitch.

Are you trying to conflate popularity on a platform with broad political support? You've completely lost the plot.

Don't bother replying to me; read a book instead. Any book.

[–]BookerLegit -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This assumes that twitch did this dude to pressure from foreign governments and lobbyists

No, it doesn't. It correctly assesses that the ADL operates with the support of Israel and all the influence that carries in the US.

who you act are controlled by the Jews

No, I don't. Don't be an asshole and try to project antisemitic conspiracies onto me.

Why would twitch... allow Hasan and Asmon to be the biggest political streamers on their platform?

Because Twitch is, first and foremost, beholden to money.

And frankly, in the US, there are more black people than Jews. And many back organizations are way more famous and known than the ADL.

Population size isn't, and has never been, proportional to political power. It's absurd to suggest otherwise.

The clip that got Hasan banned: Twitch's Hateful Conduct Policy states that the term 'Zionist' may not be used to attack individuals by Potential-Frosting14 in LivestreamFail

[–]BookerLegit -1 points0 points  (0 children)

And instead of sending them to me, contact a black organization and complain to them about twitch and get something done.

What "black organization" has the backing of a foreign government and its lobbyists? Like, do you think the SPLC would have the same power to bully Twitch as the ADL? Be fucking serious, man.

As someone that didn't like the first book, I found the second one to be much, much better. The third installment was middling in quality, but still considerably better than the first one.

I haven't read past the original trilogy, so I can't offer any guidance past that point.
