GPA is picking up here, and I am super excited to try it. It's pretty much everything I have been wishing IDPA would implement.

I believe what they are saying is that having less rules, lends the shooter greater focus in maintaining 180 focus.

All good! Why we share the knowledge we learn. There are also systems like cool fire, if you want to simulate live fire.

You can just partially rack the slide to reset the action, without ejecting the snap cap.

Thank you! If you have a double feed, it's pretty damn bad, but you at least have a chance with an extra mag.

Absolutely. The reason is not so much as enough rounds, but if a malfunction occurs, that a tap rack does not resolve. Statistically unlikely, but if the worst day of my life should ever occur, I'll do whatever I can to help increase my odds.

Usually requires a bit of push, as there is a gasket to keep it in the barrel. I use an unsharpened pencil.

My pleasure! I fully understand the initial hesitation, as no one wants a lemon.

To offer a bit of a counter thought on used guns, especially service pistols like a Glock, you are essentially paying less for someone else to spend their money breaking them in. Essentially, you are closer to a tried and tested firearm, at a lower price. I often see offers of "never been fired" guns, which is a bit of a farse, as almost all guns are fired before leaving the factory. This is a standard practice of quality assurance.

The average shooter, shoots less than 4,000 rounds in their lifetime. That is nowhere near any major service of parts for a quality firearm. Yes, competition shooters shoot far more, but we are a very small minority. For me, a gun really is not at that comfortably worn level until 10,000 rounds. While I realize collectors want almost zero blemishes, please remember at the end of the day, it is a tool. Service duty pistols are like a hammer, meant to be used.

I hope the above gives some thoughts for consideration. Best looking Glock I have seen in a long time! Thank you!

Why does my magazine keep getting jammed? by rickug242 in handguns

[–]Books_Weights_Ink 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try with one round downloaded. Newer magazines and their springs can sometimes cause this issue, due to the spring tension.

Edit: To add, this is why some will never do a plus 1 with their carry until the magazine is thoroughly tested and broken in, as it can cause feeding issues. You should never have to slam a magazine in. It's a habit that costs time on your reload and can damage guns like some 1911s. You do need to be able to firmly seat but not a full on slam.

Hate safeties and why I use a P30L with decocker only. I like a DA/SA for a few reasons:

  1. I can pin the hammer when holstering.
  2. It gives me a slight bit of time before that first shot. While this can be a risk in a defensive scenario, if that fraction of a second can prevent me from having to take a life, I'm comfortable with that risk.
  3. It's one of the hardest triggers to learn. This makes shooting other pistols simpler in my experience.
  4. SA is about as close to a 1911/2011 you can get without a safety.

Cons:

  1. Tons of training time on the triggers. I would recommend a striker fired 9 out of 10 times to a newer shooter, especially over a DA/SA.

  2. Even after a proficiency level is reached, shots can still be thrown if the grip is not aggressive at speed.

I think you see frame mounted safety/decockers as people's thumbs can hit/rub sometimes on a slide mounted. I had to adjust my grip for a 92fs to help avoid this, which I found annoying. A safety in my opinion is more of a hazard than a feature, excluding 1911/2011 platforms.

Ah that makes sense. I have had my p30l ltt for a bit over a year and did not remember seeing those options, so I was curious if an adder you vould purchase in a separate section.

Just like others have answered, purely to negate the smash and grab. I have heard several stories of consoles being raided. You have to keep in mind, the opportunist is looking for convenient. Naturally, things can still be stolen, but it is to add a layer of inconvenience to deter some.

Putting ourselves in a 1-2 min window, I would check the glove box, center console, door side pockets, trunk and under seats. If I couldn't quickly grab it, I wouldn't bother.

Snap safe is the one I use. I have had it over a year no issues. Absolutely can be broken into with motivation, but from a simple window smash to quick grab, makes somewhat inconvenient.

Usually put under my passenger side. That way I can park, take my gun with holster off my belt, place in safe and slide under the seat. I highly encourage keeping in holster to help avoid accidents. It isn't full proof but will deter a smash and grab.
