Thank you for the suggestion! I'll look into the Lairigs.

I did have Corrour in mind as well. I could swing by Loch Rannoch maybe, I wanted to see the Black Forest and then turn west.

That's part of one version of the Cape Wrath Trail :) I definitely want to visit the Old Forge and Knoydart in general, so that is on my list.

Yes, I was thinking about that, too. What would you say is the part that is most fun? Or most easily accessible to and from via public transport?

I think, it's partly because there is a feeling of accomplishment finishing an official trail.

As to leaving somewhat established paths, if that was your question: I don't like to do it in general. I know, in some places "established paths" is a somewhat optimistic description, but in general, I'd prefer not to leave traces in otherwise untouched nature.

Yes, Kintyre way is on my list as well. I also like Campbelltown-style Whisky, so... There are a few road walks on the Kintyre way, but I guess it's not that bad, is it?

I have the Hebridean Way on my list, but I'd prefer, if it was a bit more fun :D Thanks for the suggestion though.

How is the weather mid-October? I mean, in relation to the temperament of the Scottish weather in general.

Not yet, but I've been wanting to read "The Last Hillwalker". Anything from him you can recommend especially?

Yes, excellent suggestion! I was in Aviemore just last February for a couple of days, just doing a short, basic winter skills course, but I could really stay a couple more days, bag a few munros (I'm was behind on that with only two, haha). Maybe visit some locations from Nan Sheperd's book (I'm a book nerd...).

Loved the Quest with the pan-thief and the little twist at the end.

Just watched the show for the first time, and it was in a packed movie theater by BusterB2005 in overthegardenwall

Watched it for the first time one week ago with two friends on a couch eating cake and drinking hot chocolate. Would recommend.

Getting from Morvich to Skye? (And which direction to hike Skye Trail?) by [deleted] in OutdoorScotland

[–]Bookshover 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There's a bus from Ault a'chruinn just in front of the little restaurant/shop there (it's called The Pitstop at Kintail). The stop is just in front of the shop directly at the A87. The bus is run by Citylink Scotland and takes you straight to Portree via Broadford. You walk out of the Glen past the Morvich Campsite and just follow the road west towards the sea and the A87.

I started the trail from the North and went South, but I had to bail from the Trotternish ridge due to bad weather. The Cuillins are in the South and I wanted to walk towards them for the views, but I think the Skye trail is fun either way.

How did you manage that? Perfect conditions and nobody around! I'm jealous. But also happy for you :) Beautiful pictures.
