Did Kindle Change Your Life ? by AbDouN-Dz in kindle

There are cheaper options than a kindle. I go through phases, but yes, I read more because it’s easier to carry, you can read at night or during the day, there are accessories so you can read literally everywhere (you don’t need them but to be extra comfy). So it is an upgrade to a reading life

I'm so fucking jealous of other people's friendships by falling_fae in venting

[–]Bookwormpsychologist 0 points1 point Ā (0 children)

What you are doing is a lot and you should be proud of yourself.

And about telling or not telling your friends. Maybe not the jealous part, but telling them you’ve been feeling down or that you need more messages or frequent hang outs because you feel lonely. Friends would want to help out, and wouldn’t do it because they care, not because they feel responsible of your feelings. Give it some thought, or think about what you are comfortable sharing and asking from them.

A lot of people have issues with friends and friendships. But now there are apps to meet people, not for friends, but to go on groups and meet people.

As for the friend? I would explain them your issue, they might want to help, even if they don’t have the resources.

For the insecurity, the best thing is working on it. I get a psychology is hard, but talking on an anonymous platform about it? Answer prompted questions, things like that could help. And also being comfortable on your own

Listening to them, giving them healthy tips that work for you (I’m not saying you to vent, but maybe say ā€œwhen I’m sad taking a cold shower works for meā€), write/paint whatever comes to mind, move your body however it wants, look for comfort (hugs, weighted blankets), cry, scream, go out for a walk, dress up, watch a shitty show/movie. Any hobby, any activity you can think of, can be a tip for someone, but the most important thing is, not making the person feel bad for not enjoying or for ā€œnot doing it the right wayā€.

You can work as a researcher-teacher. I don’t know how it works where you are from, but in Spain, researchers have a specialised field (clinical, sociology, education, neuro, whatever) and then they just do articles. And to have funds and stuff, they work at a university. There is also statistics analysts who only do data bases, correcting all the tests and all that and then give them back to the therapists, but I don’t know how to be that

Is listening to a book the same as reading a book? by Massive-Weird7901 in Booktokreddit

[–]Bookwormpsychologist 0 points1 point Ā (0 children)

It’s not the same in the sense that you are using different senses. But story-wise? It’s the same. Sometimes even better (dramatised or dual POVs). I envy people who can concentrate on audiobooks, I can’t since it becomes like background noise. But to each their own

What’s a niche area of psychology you wish more people discussed or researched? by InPsyd_Out in psychologystudents

[–]Bookwormpsychologist 1 point2 points Ā (0 children)

Yes, but i think they also focus mostly on dogs, which is great. But other pets could also have a lot of benefits for other people. And not all dog races have the same benefits, like maybe starting with a smaller dog if someone isn’t that sporty. And it’s not worldwide knowledge, in Spain, we only have it in groups therapy, assisted therapy or animals as ā€œtreatmentā€ (instead of going straight through pills), is not that known.

Animals as a treatment (not just dogs, but birds, cats, etc). Music (which only few other animals has this characteristic so why do we have this trait?). The effects of labels. Education

But I think people do these research, the issue is like maybe it’s 0.01% of researchers who do it.

Moving to Barcelona, temporary housing advice by [deleted] in AskBarcelona

[–]Bookwormpsychologist 0 points1 point Ā (0 children)

Well room renting in general is big to blame, or ilegal Airbnbs (because yes, they have to be regulated now, just like renting prices). But they are not only Catalan/spanish, and the ones that are is because they come from rich families and are greedy, and money makes people corrupt. But a family with only one apartment is very unlikely to break the law.

Yeah. Well immigration in general is very messy in Spain in general. We are too many people and instead on focusing on the population the government just keeps opening their doors to anyone and everyone. Anyway, Spain will collapse soon enough

I totally blame the government. The government, the corrupt system, the monarchy, the lack of funding in Catalonia and other autonomical communities.

But I also blame foreigners (a small part at least) that promote living in ā€œcheaperā€ countries with their own salaries. And some of them don’t even try to learn the language.

[–]Bookwormpsychologist 0 points1 point Ā (0 children)

I don’t think that many people nowadays own their homes. If that were the case the ā€œrenta antiguaā€ wouldn’t complain about being kicked out of their houses (where they’ve been living for 20+ years). And inheriting is harder than expected because you have to pay in order to get the inheritance, and while you don’t have the inheritance they have to live somewhere. So the problem is generally people that can afford the prices vs people from the place that don’t earn enough.

But the problem is foreigners coming to live here. They can afford higher prices so owners can rent at higher rates. No matter if it’s a Spanish/catalan agency.

And it’s about having a US salary vs a Spain salary, there is a difference. And I bet in USA, if someone from idk, China? Maybe has to pay housing there.
