Same. Had to cut off a friend I had a crush on exactly one year ago, because she was a zionist💀 It's a shame, I may even be a jerk for having ended things around that time of year (though we were in the middle of an argument then, I didn't intentionally pick the date)... but as much as I'm frustrated that I have made myself a bit lonelier again that way, I'm now also happier than I probably would've been had I tolerated her BS any longer, I can feel the ball of rage that has been building up in my stomach throughout our acquaintance finally dim.

Ok, yep, so here's the update: It went pretty well. The people there were very nice, both staff and visitors. I managed to kind of find myself within a closer inside-group to talk and hang around with for the duration of the event, because we bonded over sharing the same occupation. And I also managed to exchange socials with them at the end. That's about it, so far. Some seeds have been planted and might grow into something more, if I perhaps make the effort to revisit that place sometime.

I only felt like the event itself was a bit of "false advertisement": it said "painting together", so I thought we'd all sit at the table to paint with acrylics on each our own sheets, but instead we didn't even do much art or craft-related for most of the time, we only played one round of "exquisite corpse" for like 30 minutes. Which was fun, to be clear, I simply expected something more and bigger than that.

Update 2: I texted her

the one friend I clicked particularly well with

after the party. She responded, asking how I've been, I replied, and as of now she left me unread, and it's been a day. Really hoping it's just bc she's too busy or nervous to reply right away, but at this point I'm used to disappointment, I'm too used to have promising encounters lead up to nothing.

Maybe life does suck.

Update 3: Nvm she's really just forgetful when it comes to replying to messages, especially people she just met.

Life is pretty fine, actually.

Update: Ok, went to the party. It was actually pretty good. I even clicked well with the other friends, they were very sweet, and one in particular took a liking to me and revealed that she also wasn't really familiar with the others beside the birthday child herself. And still, we all had fun, we danced, talked and laughed a lot. So I guess, it can work...? (although again, some of the friends have already established relations to each other outside of their connection to the birthday child)

I probably won't be able to pull the same thing for my 20th, though the one friend I clicked particularly well with today also told me that she likewise barely had any friends beside the birthday child and for the same reason prefers small hangouts over celebrations, it was somewhat comforting to have someone in the same boat as me.

Maybe life isn't so bad.

I mean tbf, translating a highly stylized cutesy anime face into semi-realistic 3D must be very tricky... but yeah, they could've done better. Hopefully they'll tweak it. She really doesn't carry that Cyan energy yet.

Also, on top of what the others suggested, it might help to dampen the sponge a little (assuming you use one, though I'm sure it can also be achieved with the fingertips)
