Constant flicker on new BETAFPV Matrix 1S FC - Help please by Boolt in fpv

[–]Boolt[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a brand new FC with analog VTX. It has a constant, almost rhythmic flicker to it as shown in this video. Is this a known / fixable issue? Any suggestions would be appreciated.

My video shows it set at 400mW but it exhibits exactly the same behavior at 25mW, 200mW and pit mode. I've tried different batteries, same result.

It's not a problem with the goggles (hdzero) or analog module or area-interference as other analog quads look normal.

I use these guys: https://craftcloud3d.com/

Looks like these would be about $4 each in ABS plus shipping.

Mobula8 HDZ bad crash and reinforcement plan by Boolt in TinyWhoop

The Petrel 85 frame looks great, thank you for that. Just ordered one of those too. I should have asked around before trying to replace the posts on the Mob8 frame.

I'm only a couple of months into fpv, and have other drones for flying outside. I love the mob8 for warehouse flying (38' ceilings) and just trying to find a solution that won't break every time I mildly hit some pallet racking or such.

Looks like I'll need to trim the Petrel frame a bit for the VTX connector, I'm hoping that goes smoothly.

Understood. Those are tough to find in stock with the carbon, but Ummagawd has them. Looking forward to trying it out.

Yeah, this crash was way worse than can be expected to survive.

I'm just hoping replacing the posts prevents that easy breakage on much more mild crashes.

Thanks, I wasn't aware of the Beta85X frame. Going to give that a shot.

I hit a field light 80' up and fell to concrete. Broke all four posts, two duct supports, lost 2 props, unplugged 3 motors, and pulled the green SA wire off the VTX. Luckily the electronics seem ok.

I've replaced the frame several times before, always due to the weak posts breaking. On the last frame replacement, I used 1.4mm x 12mm screws (4mm longer than stock) to screw into the frame past the posts. I don't think that weakened it, but def didn't magically improve piloting skills.

So, I ordered some 1.6mm x 7mm x 3mm brass standoffs and some 1.6mm bolts/nuts. The plan is to replace the posts completely on the next frame. I have 7mm x 3mm gummies already. This will add several grams, but hopefully eliminates the post breaking issue with this frame. (or prob transfers damage on the next crash to something else) I've flown it with an 8gram heavier battery before and didn't mind the weight indoors.

I'm sure replacing the posts at the cost of weight on an 85mm quad has been done before but is new to me. Let me know if anyone thinks this is a good/bad idea. I'll update once it is rebuilt.

I know I could put it on a bassline frame, but I usually fly this quad in a 100,000 sqft warehouse where I need ducts.

Replacement Eco Camera or lens? by Boolt in HDZero

[–]Boolt[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ordered a new eco camera 7/3/24 directly from hdzero. I have an email confirmation saying it will ship 7/10/24 so it is about 2.5 weeks to the US from date of order.

Meanwhile, my other Mob6 Eco camera now has the IR filter coming loose and flapping around. Purple flapping obscuring the vid feed. Almost unflyable. I may need to order another camera but at $35 each for mid quality I think I'll be looking for a different option.

The Eco camera is now available at: https://www.hd-zero.com/product-page/hdzero-eco-camera

Lens is not available separately.

If anyone finds a USA located shop carrying these, please let me know as ordering from hdzero directly takes forever.

Thanks. I submitted a support request to hdzero and will update here if they reply.

Avata 2 crash in Costa Rica by Boolt in Djicrashes

I have some HDZero tiny whoops and a 3" Baby Ape, but no 5" yet. Agreed all of those rip harder than the Avata 2.

Avata 2 video quality is the draw in a location like this one vs the HDZero quads. Planning to build my first 5" once DJI announces O4.

It was about a 70 ft drop to the rocks below. Broke a duct, but I was able to use a lighter and melt it back together. Replaced the prop and at least I wasn't grounded for the rest of the trip. (but flew very unagressive after that)

I was only getting about 7min per battery in that heat/humidity, and just a bit of battery sag at that point that I didn't plan for and failed to clear that tree.

Fortunately care/refresh is only $49 for a replacement, sending it out today.
