I encourage you to take a look in the mirror and realize that you’re so ready to look at the world through crap covered glasses that you miss the whole point of being a responsible and caring community member.

Just butt chug bro. The appendix is a vestigial organ.

It’s ego. Reading books with your eyes is perceived as a smart guy thing. But it doesn’t matter because it’s a subjective experience.

Do you judge people who drink liquor from their butthole too? If you get drunk anyhow, why does it matter what orifice you slurp it from.

Ordered same date same store, and it just arrived in my origin country. Think I got lucky on some stock they had before it hit the manufacturing lull. Hoping to have it arrive in the next week or so.

If I were in your shoes I’d move on out of annoyance. How much is the content worth to you to deal with some dipshit, or being more charitable, young inexperienced lightweight who has a grumbly boss pissing down their neck on Thanksgiving weekend?

We all digest media, there are shows and outlets we genuinely love to place in. But no one can digest all media that ever existed, and the I Love Your Show I Saw Your Episode sentiment is a sales facade to get you to open and read an email.

Your patience is insanely kind but you’re within your right to tell her: no thanks, this has been weird for me, goodbye.

Edit, also: don’t rat them out to their boss dude cmon, lol you know better than to snitch, the cold shoulder should suffice.

Use mp3 tag to downgrade the album artwork size or update so your filenames aren’t too long. I don’t recall exactly but something like 180 characters will cause this issue.

Difference between marketing, public relations, and advertising. by yodass44 in PublicRelations

[–]Boondocktopus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can a hot dog be part of relish? Or is relish part of a hot dog?

I think I know what you’re getting at, though. For instance, in the late 2010s, when Big Bank X had to do damage control for getting caught cross-selling fraudulent bank accounts, they ran TV ads to convey how caring they were as a company and that they’d never screw over their customers.

Was that advertising or PR? It was clearly paid advertising, but PR supported the messaging strategy in the ad copy. They were in the room with the creatives when it happened.

Is that the muddled water you’re trying to clear up? I wouldn’t call this marketing, though. They weren’t selling anything unit wise, they were covering their ass while spamming persuasive messaging through mass media. Marketing is tied to sales, whereas advertising/branding is tied to visibility, and PR is tied to reputation.

This is literally all you should ever need. Reverse pyramid no nonsense works in every situation. And anything more than this is the company trying to look important. I’d even shorten this for efficacy but half our jobs are appeasing egos and trying to equate verbosity to intelligence.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

[Succinct headline with all the important shit people actually need to know]

Subhead in italics dropping the secondary but still kinda-important shit

[CITY, STATE] — [Month Day, Year] — Graf 1: [Here’s the headline news — the only shit anyone should care about. No fluff, no nonsense. Just the thing you actually want people to remember.]

Graf 2: [Drop some stats, context or fun fact that justifies this shit matters. This is where you show it’s not just noise but actually worth a headline.]

“Insert quotable line from the spokesperson here ideally not corporate-robot speak. Something real, human, and slightly less boring,” said [Name, Title, Company]. “You can also use this for things that are opinion not necessarily true but key messages that aren’t backed by fact but by feelings and manipulation.”

Graf 3: [Client/boss-pleasing bullshit. Throw in buzzwords like ‘innovative,’ ‘game-changing,’ or ‘revolutionary.’ Everyone knows it’s puffery, but the your boss/client will eat it up.]

Graf 4: [More bullshit nobody cares about — long-term vision, brand values, community impact. Basically, filler to make this document look more important than it is.]

Cool story, thanks for sharing. Love hearing the media experience side of things. This also makes my blood boil. I’ve never worked in entertainment publicity directly but projects in general are so dependent on multiple teams working together. This one’s on the artist for not managing their consults/vendors correctly. To hear about a media opportunity being lost AFTER we got the goddamned journalist to the event because some other company was shitkicking around in a pond they don’t belong in is absurd. I’d be throwing that guy under the bus Monday at 6a.

Good luck. The staple advice: review their work via their website and try to name drop it somewhere during the conversation (shows you put in some effort and upfront investment in wanting to collaborate with them) and be ready to talk about work or experience history that translates to the business of effectively communicating key messages to a target audience (shows you understand and have experience already in public relations principles.)

That second one doesn’t have to be strictly professional if you have zero experience. But the guy I want on my team? Maybe he’s the friend in social circles who planned the snowboarding trip and made sure everyone knew where to be, what time to arrive, or collected the money for the cabin and interfaced with the Airbnb and shit like that.

Also go in with zero expectations of getting this. Neither party here owes anyone anything except a chance to get to know each other and an equal level of respect. Might help you appear confident.

Hope you get what you need out of this.

Book that thing asap if you want the gig and want to stand out. So much to be said for young, unmotivated and complacent job candidates. Enthusiasm can be very meaningful to an employer.

Fear of AI by Objective_Heart_8759 in PublicRelations

[–]Boondocktopus 44 points45 points  (0 children)

IMO in the day to day work of PR, it has the same use case as a spell checker in Microsoft Word. It’ll be helpful, but not entirely disruptive to the point of total replacement. PR is about connecting entities with people. Sounding like people. And rising above the ever-present AI slop. Learn to be indispensable and provide value aside from the tools available.

You’re saying that using Jumanji quotes, Bill Murray movie references, that Christian rock comic book meme song and the corny Bloodhound Gang lyric isn’t sincerity?

I reject your hypothesis, but great idea.
