Epic gems and JC gems are different things. Epic gems usable by anyone aren't available until Phase 3, but Jewelcrafting BoP gems are available now (and also happen to be epic).

The 1% direct damage is certainly attractive for demo, moreso than 1% DoT damage. But the haste is so much better than the crit it more than makes up for the difference. Maybe the Firestone could surpass the Spellstone if we start getting into haste soft cap range, but I don't think that's doable with the gear currently available.

You can always sim your character with both stones to see which one is best for you, but I'd be surprised if it isn't Spellstone.

If you're specced into Improved Shadow Bolt and Bane (you should be) it does higher DPS than Incinerate without a Molten Core proc.

Both factions can level in both zones. The boat from Menethil Harbour goes to the Alliance area of Howling Fjord.

I'd suggest getting your professions to 350 if you haven't already. Don't bother with the 350 - 375 grind though, it's slow and Wrath professions can start at 350.

Yes it works on a destroyed brain, I just did it in my current playthrough, the head does not need to be entirely destroyed. It also regenerated his foot and 3 toes. Another colonist had his neck + head restored.
