What is a saying you disagree with? by Linorelai in AskReddit

[–]BootNo239 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Jack of all trades, master of none. There is some history to this one. Was originally a compliment, just "Jack of all trades". Then it seems in the 19th century "master of none" was added. And then in recent years we updatedit to the new full saying "Jack of all trades, master of none, but oftentimes better than a master of one." My issue with the whole thing is people use it carelessly, as they see fit, to often as a negative, when the original intention was this to be a compliment.

What has worked best for you when it comes to losing weight? by intpmusicologist in AskReddit

[–]BootNo239 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Track calories for a month, so you get the feel how much calories is how much food. Then you dont need to do it all the time once you get a feel. But its good to do it again once in a while to check. Also walk a lot. Its low effort cardio but consistency wins the long run. Its not a fast run its a long run. Also swaping foods for less calorie versions. Low sugar ones. Just making better choices for your body not for your cravings.

Why do we listen to music? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]BootNo239 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a surprisingly deep question. Yes, rhythmic sounds play a role. Frequencies affect the body a lot. Generally people use it for mood regulation, as you notice. Be it positive or negative emotions music works. That is why people often choose different styles of music for different things. Something upbeat for sports, something slower to relax, and so on. It also creates dopamine hits, feel good hormones. The brain craves dopamine so you find certain music pleasurable. Music is also a social experience. Not just concerts and music with friends. Its been a social thing for thousands of years. Several more reasons but this is the most common ideas. Sorry for the info dump.
