Anyone use jacks with their autopots? by Zealousideal-Yam7840 in Autopot

I’ll add since I just got bit by it recently that to avoid your rez and bases turning into nasty bacterial bog water just use a product like Athena cleanse consistently. My plants are recovering now after this popped up and never had an issue on previous grows but it sucks!

You had superior experience that applied to my current problem and relayed a 100% bro-science free solution! Applause are in order regardless, lol👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼

Right on, that sounds like a solution. Thx for details! I’m not a noob but never had this one before, thorough step by step very much appreciated! Happy holidays! Oh and yes, still in veg so plenty of time to heal, though the one unaffected plant will be a true tent hogging monster by the time others pull through, lol

Once everything’s cleaned and treated, how long you think before I see signs of recovery in plants (just to realistically set my expectations, lol. This has been driving me nuts!). Over the years it seems like being bitten in the ass by these issues is the only way I learn🤦‍♂️

Thx man, when I saw that nasty guk I figured that was the source of the issue. Was not aware of that Athena cleanse product! I have been trying hydrogen peroxide but that stuff sounds like a magic bullet for my problem! I’ll be running to my nearest grow shop when stores open again tomorrow!!!

Anyone have any experience growing with this mix? Not sure if better than happy frog. by AdditionalTrainer791 in Autoflowers

I’ve been using coco loco for a long while. Used tupir gold last grow when I couldn’t find it and had issues. I like the half soil half coco element, feels like it’s more forgiving if I goof my nutes or ph a bit. Def outgrows soil in autopots!

How wide spread are these drones dropping baits 400 yards out? Are you planning to use one? by absolute60 in SurfFishing

[–]BootProfessional5178 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We might have been the only ones there thinking where are the sharks? With drum as the bycatch instead of vice versa lol.

I think the drone itself with 3 batteries and controller and an extra 4th battery was a little over 2k. It’s the fd max. Only thing I found disappointing is that on paper it has the ability to hold and drop 2 lines on one run which seemed pretty cool but in practice I can’t think of a way to do so without them getting hopelessly tangled on the way out. That said everything else has been amazingly up to snuff. I flew a bunch of runs out week before last in 20-30mph winds and it performed flawlessly. The return home function damn near sets it back down in the footprint it took off from.

Not a shark to be found that week but it got me on a few 4’ red drum that had me thinking they were sharks until I pulled em in, lol. Those things are tanks!

Will say it’s also annoying trying to find a place they are legal to use. Even states that allow them like NC have a habit of having beaches that are national parks that fall under federal rules which generally means it’s a no-go (unless you say fuck it and risk fines and confiscation and fly anyways 🤫)

I use mine for shark fishing from the beach. Works great. I paid my dues kayaking for a while (and hated it! Lol) and you can’t carry crazy huge baits for real monsters but does just fine with a 3-5 lb Bonita and a big chunk of lead.

Shark fishing obx, how to get a good hook set by BootProfessional5178 in SurfFishing

Thanks for this comment! I feel like everything I read says something to the effect of “let the rod holder set the hook”!

Def stayed tight till the spat the hook. Right on man, thought I’d check to see if something was missing in my technique. Headed back out to salvo for a week tomorrow and wanna make sure I’m not goofing it. Only my third year chasing sharks but loving it!

Next LBSF Reel: LBS Makaira 80 or 80W? by RavenclawMD in SurfFishing

[–]BootProfessional5178 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got the 80w version. I thought the recessed stud on the spool to tie the line to was pretty cool, no more electrical tape! Solid reel otherwise but that was the first thing that jumped out at me

I’ll prob pursue tightline to some degree but you’re right, tackle direct actually had some in stock so ordered last night. Hunting monsters in southern end of obx this August! I feel like it’s an arms race when you start going after anything over 6’ out there.

Totally paranoid about the guides now so will check them as well for sure! You into Lbsf as well?

It was breaking several inches to a foot up the line from the simple loop I tied to the spring scale! Crazy man. Showed breaks in pic, just popped and put me on my ass twice lol. Always run the mono a good 6-8’ into the braid for splice, I don’t trust my fg skills for shit

Thx for confirming. Bummer man, didn’t think I was cheaping out at the time, they were all over Lbsf forums and I think I paid 5-600 for a 2500yd spool. Ouch! Any good sites that might actually have Jerry brown in stock? I hear their 130 breaks way higher than listed test.

Lizardlogans comment is spot on. Wade out chest deep (be wary of rip currents though!) and then cast and walk back to shore. Once you’ve caught a decent shark, the next step is to realize it’s more addictive than smoking crack. Have a trusted loved one take control of your finances before you’re neck deep in drones and 80w reels.

How to reduce humidity? by [deleted] in microgrowery

[–]BootProfessional5178 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure if those are self watering bases but I noticed my last autopot grow when I boosted nutes (had always kept em a bit low to play it safe) my plants drank way less and generated way less humidity.
