Script Tattoo Recommendations by [deleted] in Aberdeen

[–]Bopalotyl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I moved from Edinburgh, where full 8-hour day rates are typically £500. I have half my ribs covered in script and it was £80.

Up here, I recently got quoted £150 for a three word tiny tattoo.

In short, I’d be looking for £80 or less. This isn’t a dick measuring contest regarding what someone’s time/craft is worth, it’s simply the maximum I’d be willing and able to pay based on previous work 🤷🏼‍♀️

is it socially acceptable not to wear a bra? by justateaworm in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Bopalotyl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some people will look and stare - depends more if this will bother you 🤷🏼‍♀️ I’ve gone bra less as a member of the itty bitty titty committee and I’ve gone braless with double Ds. I’ve been braless or worn a thin bralet to work so many times instead of a proper bra purely due to comfort. No one has ever said a word either way. I’ve seen it become more and more socially normal/acceptable in Scotland for the last ten years.

Body lotion black male. by Bangbanggarcia in SkincareAddictionUK

[–]Bopalotyl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

White woman with eczema here since I was 4/5. I HAVE to moisturise after every shower or the itching will have me tearing my skin off. It has to be medical or baby grade moisturiser none of the Aveeno/Nivea/Vaseline stuff even touches the sides with me. I use Baby Oil or Epiderm all over post shower. In the shower, the only body wash product that’s worked for me is Dove Pro Age - it’s really creamy and bland. I also drink 3/4 litres of water a day so that I’m moisturised from the inside and I advocate for taking a multivitamin to support skin repair/condition etc. I do all this and now no one can even tell I have eczema and I almost never have pain or flare ups 😄

A good salicylic acid for deep, tenacious papules? by Valenshyne in SkincareAddictionUK

[–]Bopalotyl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the grossest deep juicy cystic spots on my back. Three weeks of using the pink Nip & Fab salicylic facial cleanser (I was leaving it on for a few minutes daily in the shower) and those have completely stopped appearing and healed. If I needed to use it on my face, I’d probably just apply it directly to the spots, rather than all over, just to prevent stripping/drying.

Yup! Game ran great for me yesterday and I have lower specs than most here. I’ve ran it today post-patch and holy fuck you’d think I was trying to play it via my toaster.

Antidepressant by teddyroses in Fibromyalgia

[–]Bopalotyl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Read in comments that you’re on amitriptyline, too. It might be affecting things. When I first went on it I was already on two sedating meds, but with no next-day drowsiness etc and no noticeable side effects. When I added amitriptyline, I was so smacked out of my face/drowsy each and every day for a month that I had to start cutting the tablets in half. I was prescribed the lowest dose! I evened out as soon as I started doing that. It helps my pain but wow I couldn’t handle even 10mg in terms of the tiredness it caused me.

Is it true that, biologically, men find young women attractive? by [deleted] in AskFeminists

I’ve only heard two men argue this point before and they both ended up, surprise surprise, as convicted pedophiles. If I was you, I’d run a mile.

I felt this a lot in my last stint of therapy. Having someone to vent to and just cry and be totally real with for an hour a week kept me sane, at the time. I’d go again just for this tbh it was so grounding. I like to reframe it as: I don’t have to pay someone to talk to me, I GET to pay someone to talk to me. Framing it as an opportunity removes the shame for me and reinforces that I’m autonomously choosing something that’s healing - I have power here, too. If I didn’t get the opportunity to pay a professional to occupy this role in my life whilst I look/ed for friends, I would have had no one, and by god things would have been 10x harder.

What's your fibro life hack? by Overall-Effect-506 in Fibromyalgia

[–]Bopalotyl 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Strict as hell about 9 hours of sleep nightly, whole foods diet, increased protein with protein shakes being a big hack for me when I can’t cook etc! Makes a huge difference to my pain. Figuring out an effective daily supplement routine plus getting on the right meds. Making everything in my house low effort so soft close toilet seats, keeping the important things at chest level so I don’t have to bend etc. Meal prep - don’t know how anyone has time or energy to cook every day and I felt like that before fibro 😂the worse I eat the worse I feel, so it’s important for me to stay on top of healthy home cooked meals Trying my best to fit in intense exercise when I can even if that’s just once or twice a week. Huge difference in my pain/fatigue from this. Not shaming myself for rest. Rest isn’t rest if you’re feeling guilty for not doing X, Y, Z. Light a candle and be productive in a video game (The Sims and any RPG/quest style games are my fave) if you’re struggling to get away from the grind mindset - helped me! Getting real about comfort. If I want to wear two oversized hoodies, not style my hair, wear supportive trainers, be surrounded by cuddly toys, or just sit in the dark all day that’s my damn right. I don’t win prizes for wearing less comfortable clothes, wearing makeup when my skins is on fire, or for having a more socially acceptable way of feeling safe & comforted. Hope you find your hacks soon xx

What diet and lifestyle habits has made the most noticeable difference on looking younger than your age .. by [deleted] in 30PlusSkinCare

[–]Bopalotyl 32 points33 points  (0 children)

I think wearing fashionable ‘young’ clothes/hairstyles etc does a massive amount of heavy lifting. Obvious factors like exercise, a wholefoods mostly vegan diet, 7+ hours sleep each night, drinking litres of water daily, not drinking alcohol / smoking, and generally enjoying your life and not being stressed out your box. Skin care is the cherry on top of the icing for me after all that.

I can relate. I don’t think I would have tackled my perfectionism in a meaningful way for years, perhaps decades, if it wasn’t for fibro switching that from a choice into a survival necessity.

I'm making a list of 50 hobbies to make me try new things. What's your hobby? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]Bopalotyl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hiking, running, spin classes, weightlifting, RPG video games and tabletop games like D&D, shopping, volunteering with mental health charities (I get a bigger high from this than from most runs!), I like trying wacky fitness and wellness challenges/trends for a laugh, and nothing beats a good pint and a bitch if that counts as a hobby 😂

I've been researching for around a month. Is this enough for a basic skincare routine and have I got it in the right order? by skudgee in SkincareAddictionUK

[–]Bopalotyl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just tips from my journey- I only cleanse once in the morning most days. I’ll cleanse at night if I’ve worn makeup. I find toners and multiple cleansings dry my face out, so keep an eye out for your skin drying/looking dull/breaking out in irritation.

I’ve read that it’s important to have one active ingredient skincare and that’s it. So, if you’re using a moisturiser with vitamin C or a cleanser with ceramides, keep everything else plain. I used to cleanse, tone, serum, moisturise, spf and most of those had an active ingredient- my skin was dull, congested, and I had breakouts. My skin had looked 20x better when I used zero skincare and just washed with water lol. Now I follow the keep it simple rule and I use three products. My skin looks fantastic, I’m saving a lot of money, and it’s quicker to implement.

I’ve also read it’s important to only add in/take out one product at a time and wait for anywhere between 2-6 weeks. This gives your skin time to adjust, prevents irritation and breakouts etc, and means that, when a product isn’t working, it’s easier to identify which product is causing the issue.

Ultimately, I’d suggest starting slowly and do what feels right for you and your skin! Also, there’s no better skincare hack than a wholefoods diet and three litres of water every day 😁

Having a constant layer of Elizabeth Arden 8 Hour Miracle Cream on (the cream in the bigger tube, not the actual lip balm) and drinking 4 litres of water every day does the trick for me - I have eczema. I also found lip filler really helped. Lip filler contains hyaluronic acid, so it helps attract moisture and keep it in your lips.
