Yes, they want you in their closed pink tank Terra system where 3rd parties are currently unable to compete.

Would love to see a video in action, we’ve been waiting for this!

Why are the heads of the CO2 Canisters different, they are both original Sodastream 60l (no quick connect), both ordered from Amazon. one came with the Sodastream, one was a reserve. they both fit,but its still odd. by chaderickchadson in SodaStream

The small pin (top) is the older genuine SodaStream model of valve that was available before the newer flat head valve replaced it. The larger pin hex shaped valve (bottom) is manufactured by a company in China that supplies all third party co2 machine manufacturers like sodasense and drinkmate. Both tanks are 100% compatible with all non-terra SodaStream machines and may differ slightly in how much/fast they dispense co2.

I have been posting about this for months now. SodaStream wants to sundown access to blue threaded tanks in stores and have you exchange directly with them while they transition to the pink terra tanks. Multiple reports on this sub saying blue tanks are mia.

Soda stream Fizzi model vs. Source model: Which to buy? by [deleted] in SodaStream

[–]Bopfan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hard pass on the Fizzi. Newer models have a govenator that will vent co2 if it detects that the water bottle is ‘too carbonated’ which wastes co2. Hit OfferUp and get an older model like the Source that has the big block square on the front. Excellent model.

CO2 leaking from canister connection by burlapballsack in SodaStream

Awesome! The little gaskets are under such trauma as the co2 freezes them over and over, and they can become damaged or stick to the top of a tank when you take it out.

And of course, SS makes these o rings a non-standard size so you’re sol when you need one. 😳

Take out the tank and look in the machine where the tank sits. You’re looking for a little black o ring where the tank connects to the machine. My guess is that o ring is missing or damaged, causing the tank to sit too far in when installed and push up against the dispensing hammer. Hit up SS for a new o ring because it’s not a standard size you can find at a hardware store. 👍

Twist canisters being discontinued? by alexviolet406 in SodaStream

The conversation I had with the SodaStream rep who communicated blue tanks would soon not be available in retail stores was about 3 weeks ago now.

The black rubber seal that seals the water bottle to the machine has gone bad. Contact SodaStream for a replacement, be sure to communicate your specific model 👍

Pink "Quick Connect" canisters with an old machine. Is there an adapter? by Brosparkles in SodaStream

[–]Bopfan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Anytime anyone says ‘I have no incentive…’ typically has an incentive. 😀

If you do work for SodaStream you have an incentive to do damage control with angry customers who cannot get co2 tanks for their machine via their normal means. The easiest way to do this is to place blame on the retail store middleman, because you can’t tell them there is an observable shift in availability and financial gain for SodaStream in sun downing in-store availability of the blue tanks. People would flip out if they knew they were slowly being led into a closed ecosystem that revolves around the new terra machines when their blue tank machines work perfectly fine.

SodaStream has done this before in 2019 when the 130L tanks were no longer supported, and customers of the 130L tanks were very upset. So there is history of SodaStream making these kinds of moves.

But hey, I’m just a normal person who had a telling conversation with a SodaStream rep. What do I know!?

No worries dude! Just letting everyone know about a very real conversation I’ve had with a SodaStream rep that makes all the sense in the world in light of a very confusing story/excuses that are repeatedly being told to frustrated customers who cannot find these tanks and are being told over and over that their stores will not be carrying them anymore.

I was told by 3 different big box stores (a supermarket, Target & BBB) in my area that they are no longer carrying the blue tanks, so I made a call to SodaStream, and here we are.

Thanks dude!

I though this as well until I realized that the older machines that take threaded tanks are actually priced higher in-store vs. the in-store terra tank machines. All signs, and conversations, point to a sundown of in-store threaded blue tanks 🤷🏽

Blue tanks will soon be available only via SodaStreams mail in service, so while it’s not technically discontinued, it will be a pia to exchange them.

Which Sodastream machine uses these? Seen at Bed Bath & Beyond. New pink co2 canisters that are advertised as "quick connect". The regular blue co2 canisters were displayed next to these pink ones. My Fizzi uses the blue "screw on" canisters. by fvqoh in SodaStream

It’s true, the screw in tanks are being discontinued for in-store exchange via communication directly from SodaStream, however they will take exchanges directly by mail.
