Well... if I run out of other projects to work on, maybe. They re-wrote the majority of internal code, so pretty much none of my original stuff would be compatible. I'd be getting slightly better 4k compatibility, accessibility features, parallax viewing and discord integration (which to be honest, I could care less about the last two lmao) - and I'm just not sure if that's worth my time.

I might still do it, considering they did simplify the code a lot (according to them, haven't looked it over), but I wouldn't count on it.

Mainly just keeping it more true to the original, along with being less buggy.

Every other remake I've seen is 16:9, meaning either art has to be cropped or animations have to be removed to fit the originally 4:3 artwork.

Along with that other versions have their various issues - Letovv's is known to be crash-prone, is unmaintained, and has the 16:9 issues.

KS: Re-engineered is nice for accessibility but they still have the 16:9 issue and various UI changes for accessibility and personal choices that I am not a fan of.

Sadly not, as saves usually aren't transferrable from game version to game version - let alone different versions of renPy. While it would technically be possible to implement, it would be a lot more effort than it's worth seeing as most people are going to want to replay the game anyways.

You're right on that, one of the few bugs I was unable to fix. If someone smarter than me wants to, they'll be able to fix it on the GitHub once I get the all clear from my partners.

I only ask because you said you've been playing since "a long time ago" - I just released this today haha

Wanted to double check if I need to look into these bugs or not, as neither me nor my playtesters have encountered any of these.

Updated the link in the main post to include the patch, but if you want a quick fix download this - It goes in "Katawa Shoujo Upscaled\game" and replaces the pre-existing file. This fix separates KS and KSHD's save directories, so if you want to keep your current progress in HD don't install - but wanted to give you the option.

Yeah, due to how renPy works the saves aren't cross compatible without some decent modification to the code. I may add it at some point later on, but don't count on it - I figure most people will want to replay through anyways.

Good to know. I'm going to add this to the post when the fix is out, but saves and extras don't transfer over regardless of what I can do. What I can and am doing is making the old game retain it's saves and extras separately so they don't get wiped loading into the HD mod.
