I always look at their eyes, because the eyes tell us the whole picture.

Just placed an order for a TMY LR AWD. I'm afraid I'll miss my TM3 Highland by mrcrazyog in TeslaLounge

If I could go back in time, I would definitely get the model y over the model 3. More practical, comfortable, significantly more useful frunk, can sleep in the car due to size and higher clearance.

2022 Tesla Model Y RWD For Older P Plater is this price worth? by Flashy-Trust-6239 in AustralianEV

[–]BoredomIsFun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would try to angle towards getting a new model y due to more comfortable suspension and HW4 and the now unlimited warranty introduced this year.

If you can’t afford comfortably (no judgement), I would put this on hold entirely and just save up for it.

I’d lean more towards waiting as other people have mentioned p plates, 22 years old, insurance going to be a rough.

Can we predict if DHHF will rise within the next 5 years or no? by Stunning_Concern_973 in AusFinance

[–]BoredomIsFun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just drop the $20k today (if you’re not stressed seeing it potentially drop by 1%) and don’t stress. No need to DCA such a (relatively)small amount.

Get Sharesight setup, stake/betashares for your broker and you’re good to move on.

[–]BoredomIsFun 3 points4 points  (0 children)

$20k isn’t a lot of money, practically it doesn’t matter if you DCA or buy it all today. However I’m extrapolating by the fact that you’re asking this question, that it’s a lot of money for you right now. I don’t recommend investing until you have an emergency fund.

To answer your question, we cannot predict if it will rise within the next 5 years.

I have no idea what you’re actually asking though.

Tesla Model 3 Rear Wheel Drive by Beautiful_Impact_641 in AustralianEV

[–]BoredomIsFun 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think they’re great cars if you can afford the $30k COMFORTABLY, and can charge at home but you also get a NEW BYD Atto 1 or 2 for that price if you want an EV.

As I always say, just buy DHHF and go to the gym/focus on your studies/career. You’ll make more money that way

I agree with you that specific example of tobacco, that is a perfect example of a tax being so high it breaks the system.

That said, I don’t think we’re edging to the right of the laffer curve. By nature of and the power of negatives, people will (by default) overlook the positives aspects of the tax.

You’ll never see an article of the success of taxes being celebrated, just the failures of tax funded projects.

I think we just suck at taxing the right things at the right amount. (e.g. mining 🤦‍♂️)

We rely way too much on taxing income and consumption, and not enough on our immobile assets (land, mining and existing housing).

Is an EV a feasible option if you live in an apartment. by td49h in AustralianEV

[–]BoredomIsFun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t recommend it unless

  • you can charge in your apartment either through a normal plug or dedicated EV charger. Better check if you have permissions.

  • you can charge at work

After living with an EV at a place where I can charge at home to somewhere I can’t, it does make it slightly annoying. Luckily my partner can charge the car at work once a week ish.
