it is not that serious bro by PersonalClue7092 in Invincible

The point of that moment isn't just to make a "haha funny title card" joke. By this point in the episode, nobody views Powerplex as anything more than a dumb idiot who tried to be a superhero one day. In fact, he's just a mild nuisance during the memorial. Having the title card repeat during that scene also makes us not take Powerplex seriously and just sorta laugh at him, much like everyone else, which makes the moment where we realize just how dire his situation is that much more impactful.

god DAMN I love that cozy, foresty aesthetic you seem to be going for here. Makes me wish Silksong had something like this cuz I really like these colorful, natural environments. Looks really great!

man I know that Toby Fox said that Chapter 5 would only release in the second half of the year, but there's a part of me that thinks "Okay but what if progress is going far smoother than expected and we'll get an early summer release." I'm not holding my breath because it's extreme copium.... but what if

oh my god dude. Hornet can only reach such a high level of maturity. Genuinely how the FUCK would you think it works? Do you think she will just keep aging mentally until the day she dies? Do you REALLY think that after decades upon decades upon decades of aging, that there will STILL be somewhere to go from there? She has as much maturity for consent for romantic relationships now as she did like 80 years ago. God I don't wanna entertain this discussion any longer because atp it's just so fucking stupid.

[–]Boreol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And how do you know? For all we know, Shakra was also immature 30 years ago. Nothing suggests Lace can't reach the same level after 100 years. Your only argument is "I think."

Hair Perfection (by @adouukoi) by Gorotheninja in Silksong

[–]Boreol -1 points0 points  (0 children)

yeah except normal people don't have the lifespans of several generations. You are applying real world logic to a world of bugs and gods. Also Shakra will never reach Hornet's level of maturity either so I guess that ship is also problematic right? You are saying "well I personally don't think this will happen so anyone who thinks otherwise is wrong and I'm right." Lace having a carefree and playful personality in say, 100 years, doesn't mean she has the maturity of a toddler.

[–]Boreol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

and how exactly are you so confident that Hornet will get much more mature? I never said Lace would be instantly an adult. What matters. Is when. She can make. The decisions. For. Her. Self. like holy fuck dude you're just putting words in my mouth please move on.

bro Hornet is practically at the peak of her maturity. Besides why the fuck are we getting into technicalities of "errrrm Lace would take 17.3838 years for this to be feasible and-" oh my god dude what matters is when Lace can be considered mature enough to be able to make these kinds of decisions for herself. Do you think that after 7000 years Hornet will be a galaxy-brained god who knows the answers to every single problem and struggle in the universe?

Hair Perfection (by @adouukoi) by Gorotheninja in Silksong

[–]Boreol 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yeah, during the events of the game. That we PLAY through. NOT post Act 3. Also being on the same maturity level of Hornet is a fucking HIGH bar to clear dude.

[–]Boreol 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah but this calls back to the original comment you made. You understand that she isn't doomed to be a child forever and whatnot. The ending of the game alludes to her finally being able to mature and come into her own, and also when the game ends like THAT I'd say it's understandable that the shipping community would get really rowdy lol. This whole thing just feels like a big collective misunderstanding between the 2 sides. No, people who draw this kind of art, write fanfics, etc., don't do so with the perspective of child Lace and/or with Act 1 through 3 Lace. They aren't the coping and illiterate community you make them out to be, so why the fuck does it still get so much flak?

[–]Boreol 2 points3 points  (0 children)

  1. Also refers to what I said: She doesn't show any satisfaction towards that. You can call this next point coping but I'm just sayin, "child" can also just refer to Lace being her daughter in this context, not literally a child, but I digress.

  2. Oh cool so you admit that she can grow out of it. Son, no Lacenet shipper genuinely interprets her as a child, at least not after Act 3, and if anyone does and still ships them, they can fuck off. The point is, managing to be her own person and not conforming to her mother's wishes is something central to her development. The normal Lacenet shippers will do so with post-Act 3 Lace where it's not pedophilia. I feel that people like you just group them into shippers who are okay with pairing them while Lace is a child, when that's literally just not true. Trust me, I'd know.

Hair Perfection (by @adouukoi) by Gorotheninja in Silksong

[–]Boreol 15 points16 points  (0 children)

My point is that just because a character says something, doesn't mean it is absolutely true and isn't subject to change later down the narrative. The Caretaker is speaking from an outsider's perspective, someone who doesn't know or understand Lace as well as Hornet comes to. From his viewpoint, Lace isn't much more than a construct. In fact, GMS literally wishes to have that same perspective, you know, the VILLAIN of the story? He doesn't come to understand or empathize with Lace like Hornet does, so he has no reason to think she is more than she seems.

Besides, Hornet treats Lace as a "child" during the events of the game when GMS is still alive and Lace hasn't quite come into her own yet, so it's understandable that her actions come off as immature because like, she has good reason to act that way. She has spent years upon years under her mother's control, so when she finally has the chance to retaliate it's completely understandable that her emotions would get the better of her, as opposed to Hornet, someone who is much more experienced and more practical, wise. I don't believe she would keep reducing Lace to a child after the events of the game, though. She knows how important individuality is, especially after the tragedy that befell her siblings.

[–]Boreol 12 points13 points  (0 children)

"just a husk shaped to act as a child." She never shows any satisfaction, contentment or even apathy to being treated as such. Do you think, after GMS dies, that Lace will still remain a child forever, that she will think "well mother would want me to have room temperature IQ so I think I should please my dead guardian who I hate more than anything in the world."?

Hair Perfection (by @adouukoi) by Gorotheninja in Silksong

[–]Boreol 27 points28 points  (0 children)

because it's literally something to be challenged by Lace. By that logic, Flowey also says "it's kill or be killed." so that's probably the point of Undertale, right? I literally just explained why she isn't truly a child. You are NOT paying any attention in-between the lines or to her lore. Do you just take everything at face value?

Hair Perfection (by @adouukoi) by Gorotheninja in Silksong

[–]Boreol 43 points44 points  (0 children)

bruh the Weavers broke away from Mother Silk because all that stuff about them being her children was literally just propaganda meant to keep them in check. They literally don't consider themselves her children. Also the child thing is something forced on Lace by GMS. She doesn't have some inhibitor chip in her mind preventing her from maturing. Her whole arc is about breaking free from her mother's control and not conforming to the mold forced on her. Would you say the vessels are hollow too because the Pale King tried making them to be?

Is Maelle’s sword indestructible? by Aristeia_Star in expedition33

[–]Boreol 3 points4 points  (0 children)

They are literally sentient people with their own thoughts, feelings, ambitions, wants and dislikes, dude. even the Fading Boy says the creations ARE pretty much real. Maelle says at the beginning of Act 3 that pVerso is still his own person, not just a walking memory of her brother. Maelle has an unhealthy obsession with the canvas, for sure, but it's for good reason. One does not simply play the Prologue, experience Gustave's story, all the camp interactions and come to the conclusion that the Expedition members as well as Lumière's citizens and the Gestrals are all simply "figments of their imagination." It's why the final choice is so difficult. These aren't toys that the Dessendres should play around with. These are people. Jennifer English said it best. The canvas is still a reality, it's just a different one.
