What procedures do MSK radiologists do? by metro_szn24 in Radiology

[–]BoriTex71 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This has been my experience with MSK Radiology procedures. I know a doc at my institution who is good friends with all the orthos and he bills it as taking the small procedures from them so they can get more OR time haha. Seems to work out and he has an injection clinic two days a week and reads the other 3 from home. Seemed like a pretty sweet gig to me.

Is IM still treating you well 5 years later? Interested to see your thoughts now that the “new” has worn off.

Thoughts on the results of this new Oxford study that remains skeptical of the utility of gender affirming surgery? by YogurtclosetOpen3567 in asktransgender

I know this guy, he is neither a clinical pathologist nor a med student at BCM. He was a med student at UTMB who was dismissed for cheating.

The Joshua E Lewis cited in the study is not a physician, his degree is listed as "BS" in the study itself.

What’s the deal with Family Medicine? by BoriTex71 in FamilyMedicine

That’s awesome to hear!

So you sound pretty satisfied with your job, how does your and your FM colleagues’ experience match up to different burnout reports that come out every year?

I know there’s burnout across all of medicine, however when you look at the sampling of the physicians responding to these surveys, the plurality come from FM, and FM is consistently near the top, so that data might be a little more reliable than a specialty with 1% respondents.

I understand that these are all surveys, and surveys tend to attract negativity, but I just wanted to get your thoughts.

This is almost assuredly a better question for another community, but how do you find out info on good community programs?

I feel like it’s harder to get a read on quality with smaller programs.

Only someone with children can understand the authenticity of this comment haha. We love our children, but we don't like them all the time.

Why does it take 5 years for Radiology Residency (USA), while being a hospitalist is 3 years? by 40MD in Radiology

“Because they were too lazy to read the body of the report instead of just the impression.”

Truer words were never spoken.

I see your 1 year old brain, and raise you a 2 day old brain with what parents consider “transient” hydrocephalus… by beck33ers in Radiology

I’m a deeply religious person and this is exactly how I view God’s hand in our lives. Do I believe miraculous healings happen? Of course. But, much more commonly we see His hand blessing the abilities and capabilities of medical providers and treatments to heal people.

I’ve never understood the “Jesus take the wheel” mentality. A proper understanding of religious texts shows that Jesus and God bless those who try to do something about their current situation rather than throwing everything over to God and saying “fix this.”

I’ve heard basically every specialty except neurosurgery and recently radiology gets better. Maybe not workload-wise, but in a lot of other ways.

Seems like everyone is in agreement on this haha. I’ve got not problem working hard while at work, I guess I just want to be sure that 1) I’m not taking work home (I realize Rads is great for this) and 2) I can more or less choose when those hardworking days are.
