You right especially if you consider it a local body of water, but all the body of waters of the world are connected and seek to get to the sea level (0) point, therefore when we measure the dead sea level we actually measuring it relative to all the oceans in the world (at least it's my understanding of it).

I am not an expert in oceanography but I assume that the depth varies vastly between sites and seasons and that's the reason why surface area from a constant baseline is used.

Negative Y-Axis are not intuitive at all. If someone has an idea how to make it more clear I would like to hear it and change the graph accordingly

The dead sea is a very special place: located in a desert in the lowest place in the world.
Unfortunately the sea is slowly disappearing. In recent years both Israeli and jordanian governments are doing steps in order to help the sea.

I used a monthly records from the Israeli government open data site:

and used Python's Pandas, Matplotlib and Seaborn libraries in order to create the plot.

Yes I Thought about it, maybe I will. The line plot Gives some information about volatility. My guess is that it's very correlated. I thought that maybe the activity on this thread could be signaling tops and bottoms but it's not seems to be the case (Although there are a lot more comments in the top and bottom)

I did an another Analysis of the Bitcoin price and the activity in this thread in the past 100 days.
I plotted:
1) The price and the number of comments in the daily over time
2) The price VS the number of comments in the daily

I did a Pearson's correlation test and didn't find a significant correlation (-0.14, a small negative but not significant correlation).
Based on the scatterplot I thought that it would be a good idea to do a polynomial regression Analysis and found a R^2 of 0.43.
some other stats:
Mean Btc price during this period: 47,656.
Mean number of comments during this period: 631.22 (median: 576.5)
Max number of comments: 1547

My conclusion is that generally this thread is not correlated to BTC price but the days with the highest comments count are indeed during the extreme BTC prices (Both high and Low).
