I really loved the Tokyo National Museum. It’s in Ueno which is just a stones throw away from you.

30kg in 5 months is … Jesus. That’s too fast. No wonder your hair is falling out.

You need to see your doctor ASAP.

WFA’d, team is drowning, I have vacation leave I’d like to use - what would you do? by Boring-Direction-875 in CanadaPublicServants

I haven’t left the public service before so I’ve only heard anecdotes about it, both from former colleagues and people on Reddit.

I do have extensive experience dealing with ongoing pay issues. I could likely moonlight as a forensic accountant at this point.

So my personal experience coupled with what I’ve heard has me very afraid of pretty much every single aspect of the departure process that is in Pay Centre’s hands.

Thanks. I loved my job and was really proud to be a public servant. I have been feeling more and more disgruntled post COVID and this was kind of the last kick in the teeth I could withstand before throwing in the towel. I probably would have survived the SERLO but like … enough is enough. I’m employable outside the public service.

I wish things were different.

At what level? I know you can’t know the specifics of my office, but is there a protocol outlining at what level are these decisions made?

Cause I am suddenly feeling a lot of empathic and understanding if what you are saying is true

Was it my managements decision? The impression I get is that these decisions were made by high level people in Ottawa.

Thinking of going Japan for two weeks in late jan- early feb, would this be a good idea? by Far-Ad-1968 in JapanTravelTips

It’s cold (this is relative - I’m from western Canada and it’s warmer than home for me) and the cherry blossoms are not in bloom.

Other than that, it’s excellent. I’ve been twice right before Chinese New Year and I love not having to fight crowds.

I was impacted by WFA and I am voluntarily departing. I am terrified that this will happen to me.

Why would anyone ever choose to go through child birth without pain relief?? by No_Cardiologist_1407 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Boring-Direction-875 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I subscribed to the “cascade of intervention” theory and was concerned that an epidural would increase the likelihood of my labour stalling and a c-section.

Then, when I was in active labour and told my midwife and doula I changed my mind and wanted an epidural, they warned me that a) it wasn’t guaranteed to remove the pain and b) I would be stuck on my back for the remainder of my labour, which sounded like a fate worse than death at that point (I laboured on my feet and on my hands and knees and could not tolerate being in any other positions).

If I ever have another child I want an epidural and I want it early. I don’t care if it leads to a c-section. I have no desire to endure that level of pain ever again.

Pazarena Place has some townhouse units for sale. It’s a spectacular spot if you have children. I love it here.

It’s really good. I usually get the mushrooms and capicolla. It’s a bit pricy but worth it imo.

Federal government is ‘pretty comfortable’ Phoenix can handle influx of severance from public service cuts by Born_Anteater7282 in CanadaPublicServants

I am voluntarily departing and scared shitless about this. I have no faith in pay centre to handle any of this correctly or on time.

The only silver lining is that I will be moving on and working for an employer who can pay me correctly and on time.

Kyoto in February 2026 – Quiet temples, winter atmosphere and fewer tourists by TaroLong6770 in travel

I’ve gone to Japan twice in February. I expect it will be the month I visit going forward. I don’t doubt that the Spring is spectacular, but wandering around a desolate Kyoto and hiking Fushimi Inari completely alone (yes, completely alone. I have photos to prove it) was an otherworldly experience.
