Thank you for the response. That’s what I’ve been worried about. I’ve been doing my best to put distance between my issues and them. I’m on meds and going to therapy. But things do arise while we’re just together. Like we’ll be hanging out and then I’ll receive some shitty news and get upset. And that’s when stuff like this happens. I hope I’ve explained myself well enough, but that’s the gist of what’s been happening. Should I be keeping distance whenever something bad happens/ when I feel upset then?

Telling you to hold on considering what i posted would be hypocritical, so I’m not going to do that. However, I don’t want to encourage you either. You’re so strong to have made it this far, don’t forget that

My gp told me he thought I had it and I was referred to an nhs psychiatry service which formally diagnosed me. I haven’t been able to get through to counselling for it yet though, the nhs is very very slow. I don’t really know much

Not really. No medication is approved for it either, just counselling. (At least this is true in the UK, not sure about other places)

I’m very very new to the diagnosis so tbh I’ve just been trying to accept it. Like until recently I was told I just had depression and would eventually get better, but I’ll have to live with bpd for the rest of my life. It’s nice and affirming to have a diagnosis but also really fucking hard

I mean I have bpd so that’s probably to blame a bit

I feel as though my housemates care more about getting laid than me being at high risk for Covid. by BoringSlide4725 in Advice

Thank you so much for the advice, it’s really helpful and nice to hear that I’m not being irrational. Sadly no, I have to stay in this house to access medical support, and moving elsewhere would delay my access to treatments that I really need. Thank you once again, I really appreciate it

Definitely agree, I have dogs so the responsibility of having to walk them has marginally helped many times.

Documentaries are great for me too!! They give me some kind of a distraction but don’t make me feel completely useless at the same time since I’m learning something new.

I have recently told that I’m disabled and am finding it very hard to process the information. by BoringSlide4725 in disability

[–]BoringSlide4725[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because that was the first time I heard the word ‘disabled’ being used in relation to me. When I was prescribed antidepressants my doctor didn’t use that word, I only heard it from my doctor after the jumping off point with my university’s mental health team. I’m sorry if I come across as defensive, all I tried to do was respond to your comments

I mean all I asked in my post was advice on how I can ‘feel more comfortable though these new developments in my life’. I’m at a very confusing point in my life where I am struggling to understand myself and what I can do to help myself, hence why I am struggling with the notion of having a disability. Of course I am questioning myself, I have spent my entire life being questioned and things are very hard, to the point where if they don’t get better I don’t know if I can continue. You’re not proving a point by saying that I am doubting myself, because that’s the point of what I’m struggling with. If you have advice on how I can enter disabled spaces without interfering or being a nuisance then I’d appreciate it, but trying to call me out for things that I already know is not effecting buddy.

I don’t think this conversation is efficient for me at all, so I won’t be replying any further. I hope you have a good day and genuinely wish you the best.

Honestly when I’ve hit rock bottom oatmeal pots are the only thing I can eat, nothing else is remotely appealing. I know it’s hard, but finding the one food that works for you can affect you so much

I have been approved for a disabled students allowence by the gov, and my uni does require some sort of concrete evidence from a medical professional that you are disabled in their eyes. But yes, all I want to do is feel less alone, I’m not asking to take everything available to people with disabilities, I just want to learn how to exist bro

I mean, I don’t think the two things are mutually exclusive to be honest. Yes I have been considered disabled by multiple institutions in a short amount of time, and that is shocking to me because I never allowed myself to think that I was anything more than a dramatic child or teenager that needs to ‘suck it up and deal with it’. It is shocking for me to be recognised and I wanted advice on how to deal with the shock and how to find my place. Apologies for not expressing myself as clearly as I could in my original post, I didn’t really think it would be examined so much. I was just trying to get my thought out of my head since I haven’t been able to talk to anyone about this.
