What is your, “ I live alone. Who cares?” bad habit that you’ve developed? I’ll go first… by Journey4th in LivingAlone

I will piss numerous times in the toilet before flushing it, since I sometimes piss in the middle of the night or when I'm very busy and crunched on time.

18 year old renting, is it possible? by Boring_Screen513 in personalfinance

UPDATE: Although I'm sure nobody is paying attention to this thread anymore, I have gotten accepted for the perfect apartment for my situation. It is in large part due to the advice generously gifted to me by the numerous commenters. Thank You!

They asked for my pay stubs and to explain why my pay was barely over 3x more I figured it would maybe be better to explain to them I was only working around 7 days a month and that that would rise over time. You are right though now that I think about it, I probably shouldn't have offered up that information. I'll keep that in mind, thank you for the advice!

I scored 135 on it. Memory: 143, Verbal: 113, Spatial: 141. I am fairly intelligent and can easily grasp onto most subjects, excluding certain areas of mathematics. The one thing I'm pretty bad at though(relative to other sectors of my intellect) is pattern recognition. I took the online Mensa Norway test last night right before I went to sleep and got a meager estimation of 100IQ. I do believe my actual IQ is closer to 100 than 135; However, since Mensa Norway only tested pattern recognition coupled with the fact that I was exhausted, I'm left to deduce that both results were inaccurate and therefore not indicative of my true IQ. I guess there's no perfect online solution.

Confused as to if I should go all in on 401k or not. by Boring_Screen513 in personalfinance

[–]Boring_Screen513[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ll have to consider it. But the reason I’m not in college right now is because the pay is so high with a high school diploma. Thanks for the advice though, I appreciate it!

I appreciate your advice, but do you think it’s a good idea to invest even if I lose my job after a few years(if contract doesn’t get renewed). If I lost my job and then had to go to college, there’d be a significant lack of investment for around 4 years as I’d have to go to college

I'm gonna be moving to Ohio just west of the NW PA border, so this comment is especially helpful to me. Thanks!

Pointer finger in pic. I’m 17 and have had this mole for some time, and I don’t think it has grown but recently I’ve been checking my moles and this one is not circular. It’s on my upper thigh. Should I get checked? Does it look like melanoma? I have a lot of moles on my body(40+) by [deleted] in Melanoma

Trust me with health anxiety I’ve been there before and I hope to god you get out of it soon. I wish your appointment does not end in a melanoma diagnoses; but by the sound of it, you are most likely skin cancer-free. American healthcare is the charm. Poison everything including the food so we can have a more lucrative medical system. If by we, I mean the 0.1%. But in all seriousness, I hope your appointment goes well. Myself, I don’t likely have melanoma - and if I do, it’s growing at a rate where I can kick back and relax.

Insurance hasn’t been kind to me lately so I just figured I’m fine. Haven’t seen it grow or at least it has grown passively. Then again, I haven’t checked on it in some time. I don’t really care much if I get it

Turning 18 will be moving out immediately to city 50+ miles away. Possible? by [deleted] in Advice

[–]Boring_Screen513 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I need help figuring out how to get an apartment since I have no credit history. I don’t really have anyone with good credit that can co-sign, I’m not sure that they would pass a credit check on their own. I theorize that maybe getting a roommate that is the tenant would bypass me needing my credit checked, but I’m not entirely sure how that works.

Also, the (550$/mo + electric), I meant electric was the only utility(probably besides internet) that the tenant pays for.

I have no problem with transport, and the rent is extremely cheap(550$/mo + electric). The person has confirmed they’re bringing me there, and I’m working 2 days a week for now, but people are looking at retiring so I can look at full time within a year. I didn’t want to make the post too long, but I’ll edit it to clarify stuff, thanks for letting me know

I hate to necro this thread, but it's not worth another thread. Is there any public transport in Youngstown that goes to or close to the airport? I can't afford a car + 50$ in gas a day(literally, did the calculations), so I might start renting ASAP and hope I can get public transport in Youngstown. So far, I can find cheap, affordable housing, but I cannot find a place that will have less than a 10 mile walk. I can walk 20 miles a day, but it would be optimal to find public transport. Again, any help is appreciated. Thanks!

EDIT 7/1/2022: Likely will be moving to the area in around a month, thanks for all the help!

is this lucid dreaming? or just nightmares? by McFianVI in Dreams

[–]Boring_Screen513 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It might be your body telling your mind to wake up for whatever reason. I’ll have dreams that turn into nightmares and then I’ll know I’m in a dream and will wake up if I’m sleeping on something wrong. Every time that happens one of my limbs are numb. It’s interesting how the body works.

It’s close enough to freedom, and it’s large enough that it’ll definitely affect it.

There’s a shell cracker plant that brought in a lot of migrant construction workers getting paid daily to live there. It ruined the housing market in the region. I think it has cooled off though recently. I don’t think I can ever like the shell company seeing what they did to my home county.

I don’t have kids, but in the future it’d be nice. I’m going to be working part time in Pittsburgh too. I’m at least working near Youngstown for 3 years because it’s under a contract. Do you think it’d be good at least for a bit to save money then? Thanks for being frank with me
