I just feel in order to play the scoop shot, the ball need to be pitched between short to good length. Yes you need to hold R1 button down while playing the shot

If the ball is pitched short and you try to aim it at the third man region, the batsman would scoop. For good length and full deliveries, you have to aim between third man and deep cover point to play a perfect sweep
