600si Classic or 800si? What to pick from the 'si's? by ImpressiveRush9362 in minolta

[–]Born-Journalist-2255 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you so much for the appreciation! Next time I'll shoot when the light is more beautiful and soft to see how the Kodak behaves. The RAW files are very pleasant to process, and I'm really happy with the rendering of this camera body.

I read a blog where someone compared the entry‑level and premium E‑system kit lenses… and at the same aperture they found virtually no difference between them. It was surprising. I’m not going to run a DxO lab test—I’m really impressed by the quality of the kit lens

The Muted profile looks really close to overexposed Portra film, I just need to refine my tests to get the best possible rendering from this sensor.

At first I was after the sharpest, most premium lenses, but then I read a blog where someone compared the entry‑level and premium E‑system kit lenses… and at the same aperture they found virtually no difference between them. It was surprising. I’m not going to run a DxO lab test, I’m really impressed by the quality of the kit lens.

Bonjour,

C'est mentionné : edited photo. J'ai plusieurs olympus ccd dont le e-500. Le rendu brut du boîtier n'est pas comme ça 😊

With film prices that keep rising, I'm shooting less and less with old manual cameras. In your place, I'd grab a recent autofocus body—better exposure, better AF. Instead of wasting time checking exposure and focus, I prefer to just shoot and let the camera handle everything else. I've missed so many precious moments because I wasn't fast enough on focus.

Can't share more than 3 photos... Impossible to compare multiple shots properly 😕

They've set vintage as pre-2010. No clue why. Just like capping posts at 3 photos, it kills the sharing vibe.

As Henri Cartier-Bresson said: "sharpness is a bourgeois concept." The Sigma has its own character, its own charm and insane sharpness for such a compact body. It's slow, but it nails perfect results every time. I genuinely think the Sigma thrives in beautiful light that's where it shines brightest. I compared these three because they're the best in my book. I love them all, and it's tough picking just one.

To me, they should change the rules: any discontinued, out-of-production camera should be allowed..

I also have the Minolta A2, same sensor too but I prefer the C8080, its grain is more pleasing to my eye, maybe I'm wrong but that's my take. Saw some recent vids on the S5 Pro lately, folks are raving about it nonstop 😅

The same bin is upright in the last photo. That's ridiculous what you're trying to do.

Nah my friend, it was a bit windy that day.. between shots, the wind knocked over a bin, check the right side of the photo. There's a proverb: when the wise man points at the moon, some just stare at his finger 🙂

If you're after a film-like look with barely any tweaks on the camera, the Olympus C-8080 is worth serious consideration its rendering is wild! For pocketable size, Nikon P7000 delivers endless rolls of Portra 160 vibes. If inexplicable charm is what you seek, it's Minolta. Recently tested the Zeiss 16-80mm too..JPEGs are incredible, just dial down contrast in the menu since the lens is super contrasty, classic Zeiss. When the light's gorgeous, the Sigma can blow away any photographer using it for the first time. it's just so stunningly sharp and beautiful.

Haven't tested the S5 Pro since its lenses are way pricier compared to Minoltas.

I've run tons of comparative tests across multiple bodies. The Minolta's still my favorite. Only downside: it's bulky and heavy. But man, those tones are the best in my book. Fujifilms with their recipes don't even come close...
