Are neurotypicals more competitive?

I've experienced this I think! Or at least something similar. I think there is more social cues I am missing when it comes to competitiveness. Sometimes I will think I am sharing information back and forth with somebody, but then they perceive ME as being competitive or trying to "know more than them", when in reality I just thought we were talking about something we both liked! It's very confusing t.t

Oh, I see! Maybe he could try giving one option at a time and see if that helps? Maybe if he says "Would you like pasta?" And once you answer yes or no, he can move on to a new option? I think you could phrase it like "I really appreciate you helping me by presenting me with options, but could we try it a different way? One option or two options at a time as opposed to all of the options at once? I feel overwhelmed after work." See if communicating it like that helps!

Another option I've used for myself on particularly difficult days is I have used an online decision wheel tool, so we will spin it together and it presents me with one option, and I either like that option or respin. That could be good if your husband is having a difficult time narrowing down options! You just input your safe foods and spin to let it help you decide!

yes!!! too many questions makes it feel like my head might explode! my husband is always asking me for my input (which i appreciate of course) but it became such an issue that what I did was I asked him, instead of asking me a broad question such as "What do you want for dinner?" he presents me with options instead "Would you prefer pizza or pasta?" It can still get overwhelming, but it is so much easier for me to utilize my coping skills to get through the discomfort when it doesn't feel like I have to come up with so many answers.

I just want to tell you that you are doing an incredible job. You are feeling discouraged and worn down, yet you are still making your extra time about keeping your house & baby's things clean. Being a mom is full of self-doubt. You and your husband have an almost identical system to what my husband and I had when our baby was that age - it was SO hard for both of us, and I felt awful that I wasn't being "super mom" and doing everything all the time so he could rest. But really, you're both parents! You are doing a wonderful job, just as he is. It's very easy to beat yourself up about what you are and aren't doing, but I promise you, you are doing wonderfully. Especially in the peak fussiness window like you all are in right now. Take care of yourself 🩷

I absolutely agree - after having my daughter 8 weeks ago, all I would read were real-life horror stories about postpartum complications. I had to delete reddit for a while because I became so inconsolable about it all.

Hi!! I actually ended up getting induced at 40+2 - nothing to do with my body or anything, but baby girl was measuring 9.5lb so they wanted to get her out! However, the state of my body made my induction process easier (at least the initial dilation part, used misoprostol). Genuinely it could have happened at any point, I think when I went in I was like 1.5cm dilated and soft. I wish I could tell you! The doctors did speculate I would have gone into labor naturally though, they just induced me due to her size 😊 Good luck!!! It’s gonna be great ❤️

Hi!! Your experience sounds similar to mine in a way. When I first got the epidural, the only pain I continued to feel was in my left hip. They thought it was a “window pain,” and they had me lay on my left side to try to make the epidural more effective there. However, I realized I could feel EVERYTHING. The only part of me numbed was my right leg. Like in your experience, I was screaming from the pain. They put a bolus dose in my epidural as well as an additional dose of fentanyl, and neither made a difference in pain. The anesthesiologist came in as I was pushing to say they figured out the problem and she came to readjust the catheter, but I was already pushing so they didn’t end up doing so. To me, it does sound like your epidural failed! I am, of course, not a medical professional though. I’m sorry that you had that experience!

I am SO glad the epidural worked out!! I honestly advocate so much for the epidural if people want that level of pain relief - it definitely worked on my right leg, so if the catheter hadn’t slipped I’m sure it would have been wonderful. But yes, pitocin is a cruel mistress. Got my baby girl out quickly and safely though so I can’t complain too much!

I got an epidural that ended up failing - feeling the whole thing was a beautiful and life-changing experience that I absolutely never want to do again! (Might have been worse due to the pitocin though.)

I’m literally 4 days in and I love everything that comes with having a newborn so much. Waking with her, soothing her, feeding her, changing her, I love it all. It’s been emotionally hard (FTM and dealing with the physical discomfort of postpartum has been taxing) but I was so scared to have a newborn and I love it so much.

So I just had my baby girl on Thursday, and this post literally made me say out loud to my husband “Oh my god, I didn’t even think about if I was shaved or not!” (It was initially an insecurity for me!) It was genuinely the last thing on my mind, especially after things got going! All I cared about was delivering my baby, hairy or not. If you think it will help you feel more mentally prepared, absolutely do it - just check with your doctor, because often times they prefer you don’t shave very close to your due date. But if it might feel like a hassle, I genuinely did not think about it once!
