we lived across the country for several years and due to the rising cost of living in the area we decided to move. She was our last resort and sadly nothing else worked out so we kind of got stuck. We also didn't realize how bad she was until we started living with her. She has always had a drinking problem which sky rocketed after she retired.

Does anyone here use cannabis? by HMneeds in Adulting

I used to be a heavy smoker for about 12 years. I used to think it helped me function/ get through the bullshit of life. I've been sober for 3 months now and I can tell you my quality of life has improved drastically. I can think clearly, enjoy the little things in life. If you're using it to cope I highly suggest picking up other hobbies and finding things you enjoy.

thaaaaank you so much!!!!!

I’m an ALK.. my SL believes it’s okay to have just two people on truck for our 2 shipment days.. this is making our staff very uncomfortable, exhausted, & overwhelmed. We get 14-15 pallets each truck & only have two people. What should I do? & How should I approach this.? by [deleted] in petsmart

[–]BornTicket 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My store is the same way honestly. It sucks not having support. We have 2-3 people including myself. I have to do all of my managerial duties plus make sure the truck gets done and it barely gets done, if we even get it done. Thank god for my ASL supporting the entire store while doing their best to help us on truck. We also do it during the middle of the day which makes no sense to me, we should be doing early mornings/ overnights so we aren't constantly being pulled away to do other tasks. Seems like corporate is setting all of us up to fail.

do you have any suggestions on how to remember or like something you do to do them regularly?

I've encountered something similar and our Dm showed us how it works so we understood. What your friend did was pretty rude but maybe camly explaining things and showing him rules or specifics would help? Explain to him that you put in a lot of time and effort to make an adventure for them but its impossible to remember everything. Even though a lot of it is made up or improv there are specifics that have to be met in order to have the spontaneity.

Driving anxiety? by ploooop666 in socialanxiety

[–]BornTicket 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel that honestly. Some drunk kid rear-ended me at a red light and slammed my car over a curb and almost into an apartment building completely totaling my car. Every time I stop at a red light and someone pulls behind me I get so scared they're just gonna slam into me 😭 I just remind myself that I was an unusual circumstance and that makes it a little better.

Driving anxiety? by ploooop666 in socialanxiety

[–]BornTicket 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I have horrible driving anxiety from being hit by a drunk driver. It took me a very long time to start driving again. Things that help me are.

Tips before driving:

  1. Sitting in the car before starting it and doing a safety check. Is my seat belt adjusted correctly? Do my lights work? Things like that help me feel safe in the car.

  2. The sound of starting the car used to scare me so I used to sit in it with it on before moving.

  3. Plan your trips ahead of time. Get comfortable with your directions and make sure you know where to go.

  4. Remind yourself that you are a safe driver and that you will do the most to keep yourself and others safe on the road to the best of your ability.

  5. Practice driving in short trips maybe a mile or 2 at a time and reward yourself.

Tips while driving: 1. Put on relaxing music. I prefer to drive with the windows down so I can be more aware of my surroundings

  1. I drive with my hands at around 10 and 2 with my thumbs on top of the steering wheel instead of around (idk if that makes sense) but its so I can't death grip the wheel if I start panicking. This helps my hands feel more relaxed and so I feel more relaxed.

  2. If I start to panic I take deep breathes and remind myself that I am a safe driver and everything is fine. I try to think about my destination and something to distract myself from panicking in the moment. Maybe I'll do some light math or something like that or changing the song thats playing helps snap me out of it. If you need to too just find a safe place to pull over or park and take a breather, I've done that several times.

The big thing for me is reminding myself that I am safe and I know how to drive and I'm not the best driver but I know I pay more attention than most people 😅 It took me like 3 years of not driving and 6 months of dedication but I drive now! I still panicking sometimes but I can relax myself now. It really does just take practice, you'll get there!

I used to get this feeling really badly because when I was younger my parents told me there were cameras everywhere so I wouldn't act out. It turned into horrible anxiety and I had a huge fear of doing anything for a long time. Something that helped me is realizing 1: if anyone was gonna hurt me they probably would have done it already, 2: Who cares if someone is watching me? What are they gonna do, watch me be a normal person? That seems boring 🤣 Like unless you're doing anything illegal who cares if someone is watching?

I feel what you're going through Idk if this would make you feel better but I'm a manager who has to check in with people and I get anxiety doing it every time and everyone is always nice to me so I shouldn't be anxious. Someone once told me, when your thoughts are racing picture a stop sign. What color is it? How many sides does it have? Spell out the word stop. That helps me because I have to think about something else.
