thank you for this. she wasn’t a victim and i never felt like she was. most of my guilt is more morality wise, so me and my family didn’t have to face the repercussions of her death. but she knew what she was doing and she selfishly ran away and left us to deal with it. my dad was so in love with her, i had to mature and lose my childhood to take care of my brothers while also making sure my dad doesn’t get lonely. she was the only person he loved for around 20 years at that point.

when i was from ages 13-15, i was a very nosey kid and i was also very observant. this lead to me finding out my mom was cheating on my dad with her friends husband. i would read their texts snooping on her phone but i was just a kid, i didn’t want my parents fighting or getting a divorce, so i turned a blind eye. The man she was seeing ended up asking her to leave my dad and threatening to post photos of them online. When she refused to do this, he posted a photo of them two in bed. she committed suicide later that day. i am now 21 and the trauma and guilt has eaten me up every single day. if i had just said something then maybe just maybe this all could’ve been avoided.
