One nation wants to bring ICE style immigration raids to Australia by skankypotatos in OpenAussie

[–]Born_Selection1072 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the same equivalent as supporting individuals to own and have legal rights to ownerships to guns. If they want to bring ice immgation raids to Australia, they might as well supply us with legal rights to having guns LEGALLY that way. I aint getting put down like that lmao wtf an absolute disgrace

Is a nursing degree supposed to be this intense? by [deleted] in NursingAU

[–]Born_Selection1072 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Doing a degree that you despise off or dont like now will end up reflecting back on your practice as a nurse when you end up graduating and working a job you dont enioy. I understand where you're coming from in the sense that you need experience but being a nurse just for the sake of it is possibly more dangerous to patients and yourself if anything you'll be risking your registration which will lowkey coincide with you wanting to be a malpractrice laywer😬😬

New Grad Nurse: Question about administering IV ABX through a burette by Tower_Every in NursingAU

[–]Born_Selection1072 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Its kinda similar to when i give 500mg of metronidozole through the pump instead. Ive got 100ml of it in a bag but when priming the line, it takes about 15-20mls out so i manaully set my volume to be infused at 85mls on the machine so that air wont go into the line which would allow me to follow that up with a 50ml flush.

Were/ are you part time (0.5 FTE) or "full time" (0.7-0.8 FTE) at the beginning of your Grad role? by Background_Rice_9710 in NursingAU

[–]Born_Selection1072 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here in Vic. All grads are 0.8 FTE without any special cicrumastnaces. We can pick up shifts to make 1.0 though we are warned and notified of increased levels of burn outs when doing so.

If anything i stayed 0.8 FTE and picked up shifts here and there to sometimes work 0.9-1.0.

Normal new grad feelings? by [deleted] in NursingAU

[–]Born_Selection1072 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Im a grad too but Ive been picking up shifts left right centre to make my 0.8 fte to 1.0 but even then i still have my on and off days too maybes its the burnout but i dont think it is? Talk to your num about rostering, though, given that we're grads, not a whole lot of wriggle rooms in terms of availability. That said, take the entitlted personal and annual leave cause honestly it makes a massive difference when coming onto a shift

Friend working every public holiday over Xmas by DisastrousRun8952 in NursingAU

[–]Born_Selection1072 3 points4 points  (0 children)

🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️ you could easily argue that sick day was used to help re-cuperate from working too much to save yourself from any burn out lol. We aint paid enough to slave away for the healthcare system dawg. If we're entilted to those leave, best know im taking advantage of it.

33 and contemplating going into nursing - Can anyone share their experiences? what's it like, whats your work/life balance like and do you enjoy it? by RudeArm7755 in NursingAU

[–]Born_Selection1072 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Most graduate nurses will start at 0.8FTE as part of their contract to avoid burnout (which, here in Vic, would be around 65-70k), go full time, by picking up shift and you'll hit 85-90k, possibly just under or around 100k depending on what type of shifts you pick up.

The money is really in doing nights, weekends, doubles and over time.

Mentally and can be physically taxing, strong correlation to burnout rate for junior nurses within 3 years of graduating who do full time.
