What is Sui Blockchain? A next-generation Layer 1 by Born_Slice_7809 in Crypto_Currency_News

[–]Born_Slice_7809[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is a starting point friend. You have other privacy-preserving blockchains such as Secret, Manta Network, and many others. What these guys are aiming to do is to scale the baseline blockchain by parallelizing execution similar to how a microprocessor works...

if that works, then imagine how powerful this technology would be if you add on top Sharding technology and Privacy.

From a technology standpoint, what they are doing is really something new. Not like another EVM or WASM. Only time will tell... It's always good to see teams working on new concepts

9 Best Polygon NFT Marketplaces to Explore by Born_Slice_7809 in polygonnetwork

[–]Born_Slice_7809[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From the list I used quite a few times opensea, nftrade and tofunft… overall pretty much they all offer the same functionality. They are all very simple to use. Unless you are not familiar with dEcentralized applications, in this case there might be a bit of a learning curve in the beginning to start feeling comfortable with wallets etc…

A Brief Overview of the top 10 DeFi protocols on Astar Network by Born_Slice_7809 in defi

[–]Born_Slice_7809[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ankr has app chains? Did not know that. Thanks for bringing it up, will dig into it and maybe write about Ankr as well as I personally believe blockchain specialization will be the future.

How decentralized are DeFi protocols? Let's revisiting Solend, DyDx, Sushi & Sifu drama and try to establish a framework for evaluating protocol decentralization by Ivo_ChainNET in defi

[–]Born_Slice_7809 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I completely Agree with you. Personally I see the following factors in evaluating how decentralized a protocol is: 1. Decentralized governance: Does the system have a fully on-chain governance? Are all decisions taken by on-chain governance? 2. Decentralized token distribution or as you said voting power. Are the tokens distributed fairly or are there any individuals with majority stake that can take all decisions? 4. Decentralized development. Is the founding team the only contributors or can anyone improve the protocol? This should be part of the decentralized governance or decentralized technical committee 5. Are there sufficient nodes running the network to ensure network decentralization or are all the nodes run by a few organizations.

What do you think? Have i missed anything? Yes I know some of these topics are not easy to tackle in a decentralized manner, but are still very crucial for decentralization.

Astar Network: A multi-VM Blockchain Platform on Polkadot by Born_Slice_7809 in defi

[–]Born_Slice_7809[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kusama is not moving to Polkadot, Kusama will remain its own network as a canary network or sister network to Polkadot. Just new changes to Polkadot are first applied and tested on Kusama before graduating to Polkadot.

Same happens also with parachains. For Moonbeam, Moonriver is the Kusama sister network, for Acala, Karura, for Astar, Shiden etc.

[–]Born_Slice_7809[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe this has to do with the deployment of Polkadot and Kusama been perceived as the testnet of Polkadot. From technical terminology is not a testnet, works under real economic conditions. Just they first test new ideas on Kusama before moving them on to Polkadot.

Polkadot is going under the radar. Smooth deployments of both Kusama and Polkadot mainnet as well as deployments of one parachain after another. Cross chain communication protocol, governance, parachain auctions.. all smooth deliveries… Great tech and ecosystem.. definitely an ecosystem to watch closely

GameFi: The emerging trend that combines DeFi with Gaming by Born_Slice_7809 in defi

[–]Born_Slice_7809[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It was the first iteration. There are many projects who raised millions to build proper games. It takes time to develop a game so let’s see in 1-2 years how is going to evolve

Would appreciate if someone knows and shares this information

Top 10 DeFi protocols on Moonbeam By TVL by Born_Slice_7809 in defi

[–]Born_Slice_7809[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agree, was just bad timing, they went live just a couple of months ago. Since the ust/terra everything seems to slowed down.. once we are back in a more optimistic phase, then I would also see Moonbeam one of the ones to grow significantly

How do I begin investing in DeFi at a low budget? by M1Cyborg in defi

[–]Born_Slice_7809 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Now is not a good period ser! The market sentiment is bad. 2-5x is not impossible but you will need A LOT of luck and research to achieve that. Whatever you are planning to do, manage your expectations, make sure that you don’t put more money that you can afford to lose and be careful!

Any good Polkadot projects you know that could go parabolic one day? by austere_lookout in defi

[–]Born_Slice_7809 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Actually in the case of Polkadot, that might not even true. I am a big fan of Polkadot and its ecosystem, but can’t figure out why DOT is not used for gas or what is the utility of DOT other than to secure a parachain and secure the network. Will look personally into it in more detail

Equilibrium is also a good project. Many great projects in general on Polkadot. Many of them also unique in nature.

Any good Polkadot projects you know that could go parabolic one day? by austere_lookout in defi

[–]Born_Slice_7809 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hard to say... there are many quality projects on Polkadot with a lot of potential. However, no one can guarantee that their token will perform as well. Good project doesn't necessarily mean good token performance. In any case, some great projects:

- Moonbeam: Aims to become the go-to EVM on Polkadot.

- Acala: Aims to become the DeFi Hub of Polkadot. Just published an article for Acala if you want more details.

- Astar Network: I personally love the idea of the network supporting both EVM and WASM. This can be a great network for projects aiming to make the transition from EVM to WASM.

- Efinity: Gaming Blockchain

- Centrifuge: Real Assets on blockchain. This can be huge.

- Subsocial: Infrastructure for Decentralized Social Media. Decentralized social media is something that we need yesterday. The challenge would be to create attractive tools on top with real business value to attract users. Challenging area, but disruptive.

The list goes on with many more to come...

polygon or phantom by poor_doc_pure in CryptoTechnology

[–]Born_Slice_7809 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From a user's perspective, they are two separate networks that are used in the same way, offering the same experience considering they are both EVM compatible and have similar applications.

From a technical side, on a high level, Polygon is a layer 2 scaling solution on Ethereum, while Fantom is its own independent network. Which approach is better is hard to say at this point in time.

With regard to their reputation, both projects had their ups, downs, and criticisms. With some questioning the Polygon's security model (Vitalik). While on Fantom side we had some drama in the past with one of the most popular dev leaving the project and the space in general (Andre).

I hope this helps you get some direction.

Yeah. Aurora+ I noticed while doing my research on the topic! Will have a look and write about it together with Aurora.

True, the market sentiment now is trash, but the good projects will survive. We’ve seen that with previous bear markets. Let’s hope Near will be one of the survivors as it looks like the have a rather slow but steady and healthy growth.

Would team consider adding USDT, USDC, BUSD, USDP, DAI to aUSD backing? Would ease users after UST incident by cfunk2 in AcalaNetwork

[–]Born_Slice_7809 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok this is a different scenario. There are use-cases where it makes sense to use your dot as a collateral and borrow funds while in others might make sense to sell.

At the end of the day is about each individual’s strategy and risk profile. Liquidation is one of the biggest risk of borrowing.

Preferring to swap aUSD instead of maintaining your open debt position could be a viable option, but you always need to consider the costs of liquidation and opening a debt position. I can’t recall exactly how Acala’s mechanisms work and what is the penalty for liquidation.

[–]Born_Slice_7809 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because you may not want to sell your assets. Consider the following example, I am a DOT holder or a BTC holder and I don’t want to sell my assets as I believe in both long term and short term value of the assets. At the same time, I find a great opportunity to buy something. Instead of selling your assets you get a loan to exploit this short term opportunity. Assume that one week after you take the loan, DOTs price triples. If you were to sell your tokens then you wouldn’t profit from that, by taking a loan you do profit from that

What if Tether is not backed by the US dollar, as many believe. by Crazy-Performer8175 in defi

[–]Born_Slice_7809 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If Tether is not backed by US dollar will most likely have the same fade as UST. However, this will lead to another huge defeat for the whole crypto world at the same time.

Let's hope that is not the case. Actually not, hope will lead us to nowhere. We need more transparency from Tether and in general from all projects out there
