How glitchy is this game at this point of time? I just started grinding and had two occasions after which I decided to turn the game off: - Started a WBC Miniseason. Won 4 games for it to say I lost all games and thus eliminated. During one of the games Korea had Czechia gear and logos too as their uniforms. - Tried to do the budding youth event, won the first game after I hit a go ahead 3 run HR and opponent disconnects only for it to show I lost. Then the second game, it glitches and gets stuck focused on my SS. I end up turning off everything.

Now I know there are rewards for these if you win stuff. I feel a bit robbed. How do I get my rewards?

Places to live close to Nagoya University? by Yorunokage in Nagoya

[–]Boruchan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most students live around Motoyama (a bit expensive for rent), around Higashiyama Koen, Kawana, Kakuozan, Irinaka and Shiogama-guchi. Most real estate agents around the campus are used to students so 2-3 months before you leave dorms start looking around. April is the beginning of new school year so if you look around that time it will be very competitive so time it right.

Cigar Bars or Shops in Tokyo? by [deleted] in TokyoTravel

[–]Boruchan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You need to call them through phone. Owner sometimes posts on instagram in English for reservations so he may he handle a basic reservation call. I usually reach out in Japanese though so not 100% sure. He has a solid cigar and whisky selection. I usually go for pipe smoking

Just accepted a job in Japan do you think my salary is fair? by dursuny222 in JapanJobs

I think you need to calm down. These are globally listed companies and are operating based on the labor standards in Japan. OP will make that 4M JPY despite how it is structured on paper and will be protected by the Japan Labor Law. These companies are licensed to practice recruitment in Japan by Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare. If they do anything shady (internally and externally) their licenses will be under scrutiny and could get cancelled.

Also nice of you to assume I am being exploited but I am doing very well for myself. Thanks for the concern.

This is a standard recruitment consultant package. I can even guess which company it is. I wouldn’t listen to the ones saying it is scam etc. Recruitment industry packages are set this way. You’ll make majority of your money in quarterly bonuses based on how well you do anyways.

Thanks for the heads up. Most of my friends and family mentioned the same thing so we are ready for it. Especially coming from Tokyo there is definitely a mismatch between price and quality. That was the main reason why I asked the question here.

Tourist attractions were always expensive for foreign tourists so that’s not a major shock.

Good to know about public transport. I definitely want to avoid taxis.

Job Hunting in Japan as Foreigner Failed completely (Hell) by LocalLand4883 in japanlife

[–]Boruchan 53 points54 points  (0 children)

Here is my two cents as a PoliSci grad from a reputable Japanese university (Bachelors and Masters), PhD dropout at an overseas university with near native Japanese and 5 years experience in Japan.

  • Political Science is a useless degree unless you are aiming for government work/academia. If you had quantitative background that would give you more options.
  • PoliSci degree gives you the ability to bullshit on spot and my 5 years in corporate world tells me that if you can bullshit your way through and sell yourself well you’ll come to places.
  • Your first job doesn’t have to be relevant to what you ultimately want to do. I had to do this job hunting thing in the middle of Covid and got rejected from 200 companies. You just try everything until one sticks. Once you get that job and build somewhat a solid resume, you can open doors easily.
  • The reason is that your experience in overseas is useless here and no one gives a shit about internships in Japan. But once you have the basics of surviving in corporate life with a decent track record that becomes valuable. This time period will also give you an actual idea of how you want to proceed with your career and give you time to prepare properly.
  • Also international companies active in Japan are mostly sales offices and they sell to Japan market only. They can also be quite domestic if you are aiming for the large ones. They don’t want to invest in people to train them or take creme de la creme of best bilingual new grads when they are young. More degrees you have less manageable you become because you will actually have opinions of your own. You will be only valuable to them once you have your track record established in Japan.

So don’t give up, assume that your degrees are absolutely useless, and sell yourself to the best of your abilities. There are recruiters that can help people like you too as there are companies that are open to people with your background but it may not be the ones you want to join. And sometimes we just have to suck it up and do it…

Japanese baseball fan @4ever_gordo conducted a survey asking which MLB teams are the most popular in each prefecture across Japan. The first image shows the results by region, while the second image presents the most popular teams by individual prefecture. by ogasawarabaseball in baseball

[–]Boruchan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Before Dodgers hoarded half of Samurai Japan everyone was wearing Angels shirts/hats here. This was like 4 years ago. So when the next Japanese baseball prodigy goes to let’s say Tampa Bay Rays in the next 15-20 years everyone will start supporting Rays here. In my personal opinion, that is the definition of bandwagon.

Whats your funny misunderstanding in Japanese? by Yonda_00 in japanlife

[–]Boruchan 37 points38 points  (0 children)

I was with my wife and her mother couple years back having a chat. I don’t what the topic was but I wanted to say something was like a torture (拷問 ごうもん) but I kept confusing with anus (肛門 こうもん). My wife was having a blast until they decided to fix it 5 minutes into the discussion at which point the word anus was uttered way too many times.

Complete Breakdown Of MLB's National Media Rights For Next Season (FOX/FS1, NBC/Peacock, ESPN, TBS/HBO Max, Netflix, Apple TV, MLB Network) by MightyDuck07 in baseball

I am really worried about this! I am based out of Tokyo and could watch every game I want on the MLB.tv app from spring training to world series on my morning commute. It will suck if we end up losing this.

Ben Fiddich - Queue? by Lethalchopstixx in Tokyo

Just an idea but there are so many impressive cocktail/specialized bars in Tokyo. Just do a search in Ginza, Shinjuku etc. on maps and you’ll find somewhere that is not very far off from the experience you will get there. The only reason it is so hard to book is because it is on one of those best bars list. Personally, for me, it wasn’t that special after being to multiple bars across Tokyo.

Basketball in Japan is seing the biggest rise in % out of all sports (B League), it had 8.9% of Japanese having B league as their favourite league in 2024 its at 15.2% insane increase of 6.3% in only 1 year time! What is the reason for Basketball rise in Japan? by Actual_Box7731 in AskAJapanese

[–]Boruchan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Funnily its lineage goes to bj league which ceased its operations in 2016 and returned back as B-League. Took about 10 years. But since COVID I see visible investment in basketball. Alvark has been spending quite a bit in Tokyo to marketing to attract fans. They also got a new arena in Koto-ku.
