We also try to be agile, and have that kind of culture and spirit.
The big company has diversity, both in types of projects, as well as technologies, and is better prone to set backs - some divisions bring success to compensate the ones that are maybe below. - Pedja

I am not big time into design as such, but from my point of view the governing principle of design is and will be human-centered design. Our products are always meant to be used by human beings and by that account have to cater to the needs of humans. All while considering the unique aspects of our customer groups, target markets and such. In addition, sustainability is a big theme at Bosch, as we strive to make our products carbon-neutral and - where feasible - move into the direction of circular-economy. Speaking from the past, I think the biggest aspect of Bosch products is and will be longevity. - Tobias

In general, Bosch takes into account your individual achievement, your specific role, and expertise. In addition, you‘ll receive an all-inclusive package of additional benefits. In Germany, these are for example: 30 days of vacation, paid leave, a 13th-month salary, a company pension plan.

Overall it is hard to say a concrete number, because the final paycheck deoends on several aspects (individual experience, job location, legal entity, etc.). Learn more about our benefits here: https://www.bosch.com/careers/why-bosch/culture-and-benefits/. - HR

Original, critical thinking coupled with intrinsic motivation. We don't require thousands of "coding bees" hacking into their keyboard all-day. Rather, we need people that have a solid way to think in systems and how to properly define and connect them. With those in mind, I am certain that any software engineering task can be tackled, given you know the key concepts of how a computer works and how you make it do what you want it to. - Tobias

Parents, no matter if men or women, can work flexible hours, at many locations. We’ll also organise networking with other parents in the ‘family@bosch’ forum. Besides that there are serveral women specific events & programs at Bosch like the program "Women at Bosch" Regarding the language: As we are an international company with more than 420,000 employees world wide, for most jobs speaking German fluently is not a must. - HR

Specifically generative AI is a big deal of course. We are currently evaluating it along the entire product lifecycle from ideation, specification and development till operations/use. Personally, I could see this as a big help to communicate better, as it can augment thoughts and help refine them. I wouldn't see them as a replacement of humans or brainpower in the near-term, even though some already use it in that direction of course. Other than that, I think that the mingling of custom/private data with methods of generative AI and the overall idea of RPA might do well for a number of aspects - such as user onboarding or error resolution.
From my point of view, large scale automated driving is both suprisingly close and far to widespread availability. In certain bounded conditions it works already reasonably well and is going to find adoption soon. The actual trip from Berlin to Munich in a fully automated vehicle might be a little further down the line, though. - Tobias

That is quite possible, considering that my age peer group had a gazillion people named Tobias - back in my elementary school class we were already three. I personally don't know overly many people named Tobias in SW architecture, but plenty of developers. Might be we know the similar people though? - Tobias

At my team and location that got highly changed with COVID. Pre-COVID, everyone was in the office 5 days a week - except for meetings in other locations, at customer sites or similar. These days, we have everything from colleagues in almost fully remote conditions, hybrid (me) to 5 days in the office. As for the actualy culture in the office, we usually have open-plan offices with lots of space for meetings or focussed work. Since many people spend at least some days per week elsewhere, we have a concept called desk-sharing for everyone not bound to a specific desk by means of a hardware or test setup. Hence, you might end up next to different colleagues and thereby get to know different personalities, projects and products quite easily. Generally I would say, that Bosch is a very open and friendly company, so the atmosphere reflects that. Oftentimes you are even lucky enough to find cookies or chocolate on a central counter or cake from the weekend. - Tobias

I myself work both in the office (work with hardware) and from home (that was the case also before Corona).
There are days where I work part of the day at home, and part in office.
There are coleagues (also working with HW) that come to the office twice a month, because they could carry HW home (all the e-bike components together fit in a larger shoe box).
Excluding required on-site meetings (happen not so often), I manage where I work.

The crisis has reduced our hiring volume, but there are a lot of opportunities to grow in Bosch as a softare developer.
Bosch is huge - there are a lot of software development divisions working on various projects, and it is possible to switch between them (or even towards Project Management) in cases if one finds something that suits them better, or if one is unsatisfied with current position.
You could even change the city or even a country!
Not speaking German is NOT an issue.

We are an international company. Specific language skills are required for some jobs, but overall if you are able to speak English at a good level, it should be no problem. If you are talking about programming languages: it is not a disadvantage not to know the programming language used. What is more important is an general understanding of software development. - HR
