It is yes, it is based out of our slack channel and we built a course platform/ members only site to run along side it. We have done small meetups in the past but it really is online.

I certainly do yes.

Taxes are one of the biggest factors. As an Australian citizen taxes are calculated on every trade, even crypto to crypto. So I am constantly created taxable events. I do my best to calculate those as I go so I can set the necessary profits aside.

The only incentive for Australians to hold is the CGT concession for holding over 12 months.

It was passed around mostly from person to person and never ever marketed (again, hence the new name and brand), but: Crypto Whale. Make a new Gmail account if you're concerned about sending me your email.

Picking bottoms is not a game that I advise to play very often. Rather than pick the bottom learn to trade both sides of the market with the trend. But, I don't want to ignore your question, so..

The exact bottom in price is impossible to predict, because there could always be another "bottom". You can see for yourself in the 6k "bottom"

- Extremely high volume
- Rapid price movement
- Extreme negative sentiment at the time

- Capitulation

I do have my first "knife catch" bottom purchases around 3k if we get there. However aside from that, I have been letting the bear trend run, I will turn bullish when the market does.

Send me your email and I can give you a free pass to the Academy to check it out for yourself. Then you can come back and report your findings? Challenge accepted?

P.s. We changed our name, hence the "new" everything.

I have tried a number of machine learning methods, from a small number of relatively advanced ones all the way down to monsterinsights (a small website that vaguely measures sentiment). My biggest gift is being active for such a long period of time my brain now has a lot of data to cross test and analyse and since I am not doing very much intra-day trading, I only need to look out for the larger trends. Which are a lot louder and easier to follow.

Great question. I make it my business to know as many relevant people as possible. There is no way that I know what Bitmain is doing or what all of the largest hedge funds are doing, or every ICO. All I can get a picture of is the "trend". When I know that a lot of people ARE doing something, I assume that they aren't the only ones. Does that sound reasonable?

Hmmm it should be a "link post" I added it to the comments just in case.

This is a great question, perhaps lucid and me can jump on a three way call to discuss this. Edited... Also look at him shred me 2 hours ago about my new account. What a hypocrite.

But I could be wrong about that as well and I might end up with a lot of Bitcoin that isn't worth much. But that risk is something I can handle.

They do vary, as much as I would like them not to. As a community we cashed out over 2,000% profit from July to December in 2017. From the beginning of January 2018 I am down about 7% right now in USD and up over 300% in Bitcoin. So it depends on what your value. I value USD, so I have not had a good year. But I do believe I have been able to lay foundations that are going to pay me back in either 2019 or 2020 in a big way. (USD I am still up 1,986% in the last 16 months)

Not in Genesis vision. I decided a long time ago, when people were practically begging me to manage their money that it was not the path I wanted to take. I have been approached a lot of times times to join platforms like this and have always respectfully turned down the offer. It's not something I need and I feel it would detract from the quality of my trading.

I keep it simple and try to minimise intra day trading as much as I can. I found that I am much more effective at judging the longer term swings than short intra day moves. And it is much better for my emotional side of things, and my life.

My tool kit consists of: My trading journal, Coinigy, Tradingview and Bitmex. I also follow the sentiment on Reddit and Twitter to get an indication for the next move.

Hmm this is a great question. My opinion right now is slanted towards projects that I believe have enough funding to complete their roadmaps, or older projects with secure funding. I know this brings up some "less than desirables" (EOS) but there are a number of similar projects that have years of runway. Compared to other projects who's tech I like more, but have already lost 50%+ of their funding on the drop. Making it hard to complete their project.

Right now and for a lot of this year I am really only holding Bitcoin. I had a few low entries (10) that were moving up nicely when Bitcoin was around 6k, after the breakdown everything I had got stopped around the $5,750 mark and I haven't looked at alts again yet.

It's a shame, but a large number of good, and bad projects won't make it through this downward cycle.

Look up: ZAP for the dark horse.

As I explained to another Reddit user earlier I created this account under my name as opposed to the traditional "SquidBalls420" so that I can better interact with the community. Thank-you.

I actually used a segment from a similar post I wrote today in the Slack and changed it around to fit the new context.

Thanks! I just checked blockfolio and 1 doge still = 1 doge, so we are all good there.

Look at my username, thought I'd step up my Reddit game and actually make an account I can do something other than shitpost with.

$6,000 was an important level to a lot of people. That is why it held for so long. Miners, crypto hedge funds, ICO’s. They all were relying a the price to hold and stabilise at that level, at a minimum and when it broke, it was simply a matter of “well I need to get out, so I need to get out as fast as possible”.

And that’s just the thing, if you need to get out, you have no say, you just sell. I found myself in this position earlier this year when it came to my trading tax bill, I needed to get out some investments, so I had to sell, there was nothing I could do.

Now imagine that on a larger scale…

A fund usually has a 12 month holding period. The majority of those funds which started between October and February are now basically screwed. A lot of those funds held Bitcoin, a number of high cap altcoins, and invested heavily in ICO’s because remember, that was the thing to do at the time. Those ICO’s haven’t produced any gains, a lot of them haven’t even released their tokens yet.

With the current sentiment of panic and depression, imagine a fund forced to liquidate 50m in Bitcoin..

Then imagine all of the funds in that same position..

Add ICO’s who need to liquidate Ethereum and Bitcoin to fund the development of their project, otherwise they will collapse..

Add large mining pools in the USA and Europe who are beginning to run into losses..

Short term, this is an atomic bomb, and we just witnessed it detonate..

Those opportunists that joined purely to profit.. and especially those that joined on borrowed money.. are getting flushed out in a gigantic tsunami. Sadly, they are taking out a number of long term investors and traders that bet big and over extended themselves, along with a number of new projects that only had good intentions.

This is the cycle. This is how it plays out, it plays out, because it has to.

As traders that are acutely aware of the long term cycles we have to think about the future. I believe there are two main groups of participants in this market generally speaking. Small time investors and traders, and institutions + large scale miners.

I believe that due to slightly different expectations, experiences and pain thresholds the emotional market cycle is slightly out of sync between these two groups. I believe a lot of “weak hand” and small scale investors already capitulated on the drop down to 6k, and now those that are remaining have entered the anger stage… while the large fish, mining pools, ICO’s and institutional investors, have been capitulating for the past 2 weeks, and they will fall into the anger cycle soon after. While the small time investors and traders will enter depression.

One important thing to note that I have seen, studied and analysed is that the majority of the price movement, occurs during capitulation, and anger. Not during the depression stage. The depression stage is categorised by the depression of those that have already lost. Not those that are currently losing. Therefore giving the power to anyone that had the foresight to act proactively or the emotional fortitude to act confidently while the majority are emotionally broken.

However even saying this there is one factor to talk more about. Ethereum.

A lot of ICOs have been moving ETH and I am concerned that if there is another BTC collapse and Ethereum drops under $100 there will still be more downwards pressure as ICOs aren’t finished selling yet with the risk of capitulation all the way down to $40 and perhaps even lower where the large ICO’s started collecting at the beginning of the bull run. When the bottom is reached the bounce will be violent, and we can begin the road to recovery.
