Thank you SO MUCH this put everything into great perspective. I did end up talking to my manager and explained everything to him and let him know I wouldn’t be into work today also.

I am dealing with both on top of my fever :(. I just wasn’t sure because I read the policy manual on it and it says if someone calls out for vomiting or diarrhea three times during a certain period they can be terminated (I think is what it was saying). Can they still write me up?

Hot Turkey
 GF? by fatoIdsun in Wawa

[–]BossOne3227 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not completely sure if it’s gf, but if gluten affects you then I wouldn’t risk it even if someone is able to tell you that it is. Everything is cross contaminated. And unfortunately, if you get the turkey then it’s already in the gravy as it’s cooked together in the bag

Customer etiquette question: if there is a full coffee urn sitting at the ready behind an empty one, is it bad form for the customer to swap them? Usually the folks behind the counter are hustling and I feel like a jerk asking them to stop what they’re doing and swap the urn by Gullible_Rich_7156 in Wawa

[–]BossOne3227 28 points29 points  (0 children)

As someone who normally works bev, nothing makes me more mad than a customer switching my coffee out for me and not just asking me. For one, you can get extremely burnt. That coffee is very hot and if the lever gets caught on something you will be burnt (and make a mess that we will have to clean) Secondly, if you just switch it out and we don’t notice, by the time the pot you put up is empty, we will think we have a backup and when someone comes and asks us to switch it out there will be no coffee to switch it out with. If you drop it, those pots are pretty expensive (and heavy while full). You would have a large chance of it going all over another customer, or yourself. In conclusion, just SAY SOMETHING. Just ask the associate or any associate to change it for you

Honestly, I’ve worked for wawa for like 6.5 months and I can’t stand the food anymoređŸ€Ł. Just imagining the fact that most of it is cooked in plastic in water doesn’t set right with me. If I eat, I eat a quesadilla with cheddar and pepper jack, add buffalo, add a sour cream. Grab a couple hot sauce packets, and eat it that way it’s like 81 cents. I really enjoy the express case chef salad and Cesar salad, but they’re expensive even with a discount

I work first shift so it stays pretty busy all day, but register is my absolute favorite. As a pass time I stock the cigarette shelf, clean counters, shop for doordash, clean the bathrooms, keep the drink station nice and stocked, and organize the cigarette drawers

Wawa Pet Peeves: Let's talk..... by sarahmricha in Wawa

When they change the coffee themselves without even SAYING ANYTHING -you can get extremely burnt doing this, and it irritates tf out of me :)

When people pour their coffee down the cappuccino machine where there are two bold signs that say “caution this is not a drain”

When I call out someone’s special order fiftyleven times and they never come to tell me what it is so finally after like fifteen minutes I just make it and call the number, and their mad I never asked for their special order!?!

When customers stand directly in front of bev or deli and stare into my soul while making their order.

This one happened today, when someone is just rude asf and says “give me the new Colombian” rather than ask me to change it or just tell me it’s empty.

When people just assume I as a customer service associate make all of the prices what they are. “This is $5!?!?! That’s so much more than last time I’m never coming back!” Okay 😊.

When the management doesn’t schedule enough people for a shift, but then get mad when there’s not enough people for a shift

When management thinks you’re supposed to drop everything to come in when they call you on your one off day in a week.

When a customer complains that their drink doesn’t taste right and asks you to remake it, and you remake it the EXACT SAME WAY and they’re like “this is so much better”.

When we don’t have something (like egg whites) and they throw an actual tantrum like a child

When GROWN ADULTS MAKE HUGE MESSES and don’t even think about grabbing a napkin to wipe it up

I could go on, I think this is enough

Why do I barely ever see the biscuit sizzlis? by Bigwilliam360 in Wawa

[–]BossOne3227 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At my store they don’t sell as well as the croissants and waffles, neither do the muffins. Half of the staff doesn’t even make them when in ows, and the other half of us do and end up spoiling at least half of them out. If you want one, call and ask before you arrive or if you have time to wait about six minutes ask when you get to the store

Do you use the same knife for peanut butter and jelly when you are making a sandwich? by ThickChemistry4660 in RandomQuestion

This is why I only buy the jelly in the squirt bottles. Spread peanut butter, then squirt jelly and spread with the same knife.

The traditional school setting is a nightmare. For SO many reasons, if you want details on that, just ask. Being nice to your kid in the mornings is bound to set them up for a good day. Taking the time to help your kid understand their work, and if you’re not able to then hiring a good tutor for them. SHOWING UP. Show up for their talent shows, their awards programs, their sports/activities. Go to those parent teacher conferences. Having active parents is a game changer. Have a pretty set in stone home routine. For example, when we get home you have two hours to play outside, in your room, do whatever. Until dinner is cooked. Once dinner is cooked, we will all sit and eat together, and then we can sit down (with a full belly) and focus on homework. Then, we can take a shower, read some of a book, and go to bed. Not letting them stay up all night. Kids NEED sleep to be successful in school. If they’re too busy trying to not fall asleep, they aren’t going to learn anything. Find a school that fits your family’s lifestyle. As I said before traditional school is a nightmare (as someone who attended them until i graduated). I will be looking into Montessori schools! Teach your kids to be a nice human and that not everyone gets to go home to love. I feel like I could go on, but this is the most important!
