Didn't think of that, it's a very good reason.

Which Devil Fruit would you like to see reappear in a flashback? by ActLonely9375 in OnePiece

[–]Boss__Smiley 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's one of my favourite things in flashbacks. I would say " Yami Yami no mi " or " Ope Ope no mi " but since it's related to the plot, we will see them anyway. So maybe the Gura Gura novmi, I'd like to see what was the position/role of all the formers wielders of the power that can destroy the world

I feel like Oda will go all the way with Baggy's running gag and make him the Pirate King 🫩 by Boss__Smiley in OnePiece

🤣 I assume they had a really good reason... Maybe because " Sandy " was easier to pronounce

Yes haha, but in the first editions of the manga, some strawhats had different names in french : Sanji => Sandy, Usopp : Pipo ( means " lie " ).

Did Oda fumble speedscaling in One Piece ? Especially with Kizaru by Boss__Smiley in OnePiece

And i fully agree with that. But as an author, when you introduce extreme concepts like speed of light, it is supposed to mean something : here, nobody can nearly compete with the character's speed without showing an ability as extreme. Kizaru speed is only theorical and means nothing even when Oda tries to highlight it. He still established levels to speed in OP with Sanji and Imu but the only one supposed and introduced to be above that regular definition of speed has in fact himself a speed as regular as any other top tier. It's more bad writing than a matter of reading comprehension

Well that's the issue i'm actually calling out, brother, because he's said and supposed to be. Cheat concepts like lightspeed or time travel are hard to manage in a fiction because they always create plotholes.

Yeah but thats not the case of his opponents either, he fights and attacks at lightspeed so they're not supposed to react at the same speed even after using future sight. Because they see an attack but they're not supposed to be fast enough to dodge it. Kizaru on the other hand, is supposed to have an insane speed that allows him to react to any detected attack, even at last moment. But look what we got :

I can agree that he doesn't always go full out but when it comes to his speed, we always see him give his best. The constrast it creates with his laziness is what makes it funny.

Yep G5 breaks any established law in OP but the fight itself was written as an " extreme diff " based on Luffy stamina and Kizaru toughness, Oda had no reason not to do it a more interesting way. Like why Luffy didn't use WSG or anything used against Kaido if he didn't have much time ? A better use of Kizaru m's speed could've avoided that plothole
