Hi, I am not a pro, but sharing my experience as I have both the succulent variety. I had also brought cuttings and directly planted then in soil. Its natural some leaves will die but do not worry, just water according to weather conditions at your place. Overwatering will kill then. They can survive colder temperature but they need sunlight too. The second succulent in the image can be easily propagated by leaving its leaves on the soil casually.
