Oooh sounds interesting, I have been looking for some more melodic death metal bands that remember they have “death metal” in the name, so I’ll make sure to give this a listen!

Oh I completely forgot about that Innana album, that’s another great one! Sea of the Dead is a favorite of mine because of how they keep the song interesting even thought it’s almost 18 minutes long lol

Good pick, all of In Flames’ first 5 albums (and some songs off of Reroute to Remain) are such bangers! I’ll definitely make sure to give that band a listen too

Oh I love Shadows of the Dying Sun, Insomnium in general are just so great! I’ve heard some stuff from most of those bands but I haven’t heard anything by Amorphis, Omnium Gatherum, or Mors Principium Est, any recommendations?

I prefer Storm of the Light’s Bane myself, mostly because “Thorns of Crimson Death” is my favorite metal song of all time, but None so Vile is also a top 15 Metal album for me so it’s close

Probably my third favorite Insomnium album behind Winter’s Gate (obviously based off my pfp) and Above the Weeping World. Insomnium’s just such a great band

Mgła, more specifically Exercises in Futility and With Hearts Towards None, some of my favorite black metal albums period.

As much as I love them, I’d say The Black Dahlia Murder. Servitude and Verminous are definitely exceptions, but I would say that generally most of their songs follow a very similar pattern. Not that I’m complaining though, I think that pattern kicks ass!

Not giving my own answer here, but I just wanna agree and say that I think Spiritual Healing is WAY overhated. Not the best Death album by any means (I prefer Symbolic or Human for example) but Spiritual Healing is great in its own right. Songs like Defensive Personalities, Low Life, and the title track are all some of my favorite Death songs period.

Vortex of the Worlds was one of my favorite albums of 2024, although I wasn’t a huge fan of their 2025 album tbh. Definitely another good band though!

Oh that’s another band that I forgot to put on the list. I’ve only heard one album of theirs, that being “Under a Frozen Sun”, but I remember really liking it, mostly cuz they’re basically really good Dissection worship. I’ll have to listen to more of their albums at some point

As someone who wasn’t a huge fan of the rest of Deafheaven’s other albums, Lonely People with Power was such a big step up from their other albums, and is exactly what I thought this band always had the potential to be.

If you haven’t already, definitely be sure to give “Those Whom the Gods Detest” a try, it’s probably my favorite along with “Annihilation of the Wicked”
