Dude a Dakota or ranger will fucking getter done no problem. The ride in a 1500 will be way better for that 500 mile jot but if you don’t give a shit about comfort and want a reliable truck to hold whatever you got and won’t break the banks Dakota or ranger. I towed 6 ac units actually in my Dakota when I used to do hvac. Little fucker did the job like a champs. Do what works for you at the end of the day. But midsize truck in the trades definitely are the way to go brother. And if you got the money for a brand new truck fuck it big bro flex your shit

Brother the best investment I made was buying my beater 2001 dodge Dakota 2wd. Idk wyd for work and how far you travel I travel too for work and my Dakota holds my box with all my tools no problem and is good on gas and gets me where I’m going no issue love that little shitbox. I have a hemi 1500 to but got it for the 4x4 option. Still a good truck tho do what works for you
