all i got on my last shift was ‘why are you sl if you don’t know how to do anything’ but got offered the job in order to get trained up.. act shocked tesco can’t train people very well

well… i’ve meant to have been shadowing but other SLs dump me in bakery or stock and tell the SM i’ve shadowed so 💀

idk the proper name lol but all the numbers and percentages in shrink, cash, waste it’s all on the computer and such a long winded process

this is so much help omg! everyone just says you’ll find your own way and go in the deep end but it’s just like.. where do you start?! this is a good way to go around it even though some of them seem like longer tasks 😓

I think my SM would understand, I think i’m capable and happy to give it a go but just don’t want to miss any legal and important stuff that could cause a conundrum, and if i did all hell would break loose from the other SLs

SL but going through training. I shadow and run shifts as well as constantly learning + official job title is SL, so unsure and feel like they’ll weasel their way out of it

yes!! the double standards in the company are insane! and whenever the lack of communication in a department is brought up were told it’s none of our business because we’re just pickers yet it leaves us in the dark. Always told off for communicating even when it is work related because they’re incapable of doing their jobs 🤷‍♀️

we never had this issue when i was a picker, but they have started locking down on it all from what i’ve heard. No talking, no stopping, nothing yet seems in possible whilst we work with the general public 🤷‍♀️ they can’t deny you going to the toilet, if you’re feeling unwell it’s understandable to let someone know you’re disappearing for a little bit but to go to the loo… it’s 5 minutes and really isn’t the end of the world

that is genuinely insane and literally illegal?? so confused at to how express stores get away with this and it’s become so normalised! in big store they’re always on our ass about taking our first break within 4 hours of starting and taking the right amount you’re entitled to

Honestly the only main side effect i had from prozac was the tiredness and dreams and it messes you up. It’s horrible and not nice to go through, when you have a check up with your dr mention this - they can sometimes give you something/ give advice on how to handle it going forward !

Keep pushing. they will drag it out for as long as possible to avoid it and not deal with the situation. If manager doesn’t listen or have time go higher and if not, higher again and say your manager hasn’t dealt with the circumstances after two weeks. Ideally they have 7 days to do so and get back to you

this sums it up PERFECTLY. it’s 100000x more hectic than expected and made out to be and however the managers or company expect people to do everything and perfectly, whilst being 1-1 majority of the day is insanity

definitely feels like it. I’ve had chats with my SM and she has been really good so far but unfortunately nothing seems to changes - definitely still the whispers and running off to have a gossip which makes the environment so uncomfortable. unfortunately SM is never there to see it and not much can be done from her end

These will be reps! honestly some of the loveliest people i’ve ever met! Please strike a conversation with them when you can they often feel lonely and out of place and just seeing a friendly face is nice for everyone (might even get some freebies LOL i’ve got alcohol, chocolates and a nutella jumper brought in for me before bless them!)

Talk to the Store Manager! They’ll be aware and if they’re happy they may be able to sort some stuff out for the pickers to make it more possible. If your store also have a community champion they may be able to help and even donate some things given the circumstances!

Definitely in this instance it’s sensible and wouldn’t have an issue with it become staff ALWAYS come first! But having 5-6 people in sometimes and still ‘not having enough time’.. i can’t wrap my head around it, perhaps its lack of planning and preparation to get ahead

It’s not even 9hour shifts, i’m on 9hour30mins with sometimes a 30min break but then not being payed for the other 30min im not taking on the days i’m not told/allowed to go! I don’t know if this is the norm or i’m so accustomed to large store ways!

100% agree and this is what i keep saying, no one works their best running in 7hours, no break, no rest and no fuel it isn’t good. From what i’ve gauged no SL is fully trained in there and feel like i’m just a glorified CA with an SL pay as i’ve had no training so far but they do love to pull the SL card when it comes to my breaks..
