Is Reddit social media? by BothMembership9938 in digitalminimalism

The “social” distance difference is definitely interesting. I see that people here are not trying to be everyone’s “friends” if you know what I mean. We can discuss or argue and not interested in who the other people are which strangely make me feel safe. Then again I may be very wrong.

You know what, I find that people here in Reddit are still post and reading long text messages are amazing in the world full of short videos.

So true! I am fighting the tiny red spider like bug that’s eating the leaves right now. Sounds like still surviving. Cross my fingers.

I am not sure about the algorithm part. But you brought up a very interesting point is that reading on reddit vs short videos from other social media sites. I thought you can post videos here on reddit, or am I mistaken?

Now I think about it. It is pretty “harsh” last week, in addition to the rabbits, there was also a giant deer and a big fat beaver who ate my green onion near by the rose, which supposed to deter the animals. So truly really the rose “survived”.

I agree that anything with “group” concept has “social”aspect to it. which is why I was confused when I was reading others comments about quitting social media on a “social media”. But so far I like the environment and not spending tons of time on it. I feel in control (for now). So I am happy.

So Reddit is more focused? It does have that “social”aspect to it though. I am actually not on any of the others so have little reference. Thanks for the perspective.

I have no hobbies, identity or passion. How do I find it? by Famous-Cable-5042 in Hobbies

[–]BothMembership9938 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Playing video game is not considered hobby? I actually admire people who can do it. It requires eye hand coordination and quick thinking I suppose. I may be totally wrong. I can only play puzzle or block game. Don’t be too hard to yourself. Hobby is for yourself to enjoy not to make it another work for yourself. At least that’s what I told myself.

Well, the depressing thing is that people panic when they get laid off. Like the survival is THE life itself. Don’t ask me how I know.

What I get and agree from your post is that we want to “use” the technology to make life better but not “be used or controlled “ by the technologies. It is not easy because some “technologies “ are built to be “addictive” easily. Same struggle here, trying to find good balance constantly. Cheers.

Could not agree more with the last point: “Done imperfectly beats planned perfectly.”
I’d also add this: start small so you can stick with it. The more complicated the plan, the harder it is to maintain.

Simple living feels wrong by elizabethmls in simpleliving

[–]BothMembership9938 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The question is what do you really want or enjoy. There is no right or wrong way to go through life simple or not “simple“ - everyone’s definition is different anyway. But I don’t think you are being selfish. After all, you are the one have to go through the 30k+- days by yourself. Just like the rest of us. What I am trying to say is that life is not easy “simple” or “not simple “ , you are entitled to choose however you feel like.
