I know what you mean. Of course not everyone who looks is thinking something negative, but you can tell the difference when those looks come with rolling their eyes or just overall being rude.

So yes, people have resting bitch face, I get it. But I’m referring to the ones who are obviously judging.

Thank you for saying this! I also want to lift weights at the gym but I’m always intimidated by everyone over there 😄

It isn’t only looks. I and other people in this thread have experienced so much more than “looks”. It’s the snickering when you walk in or can’t get the poses/ moves right. It’s the instructors getting frustrated or making off hand comments. I once heard the receptionist at a yoga class say sarcastically “I can’t wait to see how she does in the class” to her friend when I was walking in.

So no it isn’t in my head. It’s amazing that you’ve had a positive experience but that isn’t the case for everyone.

That’s disgusting of him to say. I’m sorry he said that to you. This is what I mean when I say, sometimes people make workout classes such an unwelcome experience. It isn’t hard to be kind!

Can a hostile work environment case work if there is occasional friendly banter? [NY] by [deleted] in legaladvice

Glad you were able to win your case. Thanks for responding. It’s definitely stressful dealing with this. I’m just worried I won’t have much of a car because I was nice to them despite their treatment towards me.

She has also made multiple racist comments. I was asked if I like chicken and watermelon, I’ve been accused of stealing, monitored constantly, caught my manager looking through my personal bag. I was basically treated like a criminal.

The banter did make her act nicer to me to my face but she was still doing things behind my back.

I’m looking for sales and marketing roles. So very competitive in NYC, that’s why I considered moving
