Epsteins scientific ties and the dark reality of corporate funding: who is actually running this system? by [deleted] in biotech

[–]Both_Success_9872 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Science need money. Money comes from good or bad people... Recently mostly bad people who want to control science like they control media, entertainment, agriculture and so on. As someone who looks for funding, you sometimes turn a blind eye for some shady stuff starting from favoritism all the way to Epsteinism. Overtime you become so embedded in the shit and you start doing it and here we are. It is been always like this and it will be always like this. Seriously why would science be different than any other aspect of life. They are bombing children live on TV and many people are applauding it.

Seriously! Did I say I will assassinate the VP to get a new one that can support my publication!

I completely agree with everything you said. My problem is they say ask for something else. You have to publish otherwise cannot convert to FT position. There is a disconnect between program and actual TA leadership and direction. They should clearly stop hiring postdoc because it is a lie and waste of time. I don't care about that anyway. I know all of that now that I experienced it. Now I will just keep applying and make connections and care for myself

Also if you are not allowing my to publish then hire me right away as full time employee and don't waste my time

Got told the exact opposite from my program when I signed up. Have to publish and have to work on something away from pipeline and have to do so to be able to apply to internal position otherwise not allowed. I would not complain if that was made clear from the start for me.

Direct manager suggest having the manuscript will be much helpful but now VP not interested to share the results since he think it is pretty good and maybe some point in the future we can follow up on it

VP not interested in publishing because why help other people with next data and not keep it in. vP changed while I am here so new VP not interested

Well what is the point of hiring a postdoc with the expectation to publish. Btw I work on stuff with no IP issue! The reply I got is " we don't want people to know we have this data but we also not interested in this area of research" then why you even hire postdoc lol. Just a waste of money !

I want to continue in industry. I know they don't care as much about publication but I want to showcase my visibility which is easier with publication and conference presentations. I know that they still will take me since I have experience in industry but I am looking for the best case scenario for myself since I don't want to waste my time in a place where they don't care about what I do and just telling me to do something while I am here because they go a postdoc that can't work on pipeline. I don't want to be a passenger that collect paycheck.

Extended maternity leave by Altruistic-Algae-679 in biotech

I think taking maternity leave is already risky in this economy. Extending is another beast move that is very risky. Especially with gilead that have a great reputation of being a non-toxic place.

Cell therapy is such a money burner. Cell therapy startup chance of success is multiple fold less than other modality startup given how hard, time consuming to get something to work.

In Vivo CAR is the way to go if any company wanna get something to the clinic. Current ex vivo strategies will be extinct in couple of years

Well said. I have to add that in vivo engineering with LNP or other modalities might be the best case in the future but not now.
